Is anyone running SCS shiftable crash boxes in a pleasure boat application? Any remarks or experience on these trannys would be helpful.
Thanks,
Dan

Could u post a picture of a ( shiftable SCS ) ????
Are these shiftable even with the engine running ?
I would like to have a SCS with a plug in tailstock for a #5 !!!!!!!!
ANY ???
Yes, shiftable with engine running. I believe they use a multi disc clutch with a air slave cylinder, with a small electric compressor and a accumulator tank.
It's the same gearbox they use for racing applications (OEM on the big Merc Racing engines now, replacing the Daytona) coupled to essentially the same multi-disc clutch used on a dragster.
Everything SCS produces looks like it was made by a Swiss watchmaker.

How does it work at the dash? Push button or what?
Sounds like a no brainer compared to the Bam trannies that will break.
So it mounts in place of the transmission.
Plug in goes forward 4 inches, drive line back 4 inches.
Uses same controls at the dash and operates just like a transmission. More power to the prop and no clutches to break like in the BAM.

10K for plug in
11K for drive line
Shifters remain the same. There's still a cable-actuated lever on the gearcase that shifts them. The only thing added is the clutch release mechanism.
This is the setup I was telling you about this summer.
you still use your shifters as normal, there is just a switch to operate the air solenoid.
You can shift one of two ways:
Micro switch on your shifter so it kicks the air on for the clutch.
Latham does the switch conversion for this on your controls.
Or
Switch on the dash to kick the air on for the clutch.
Just manually hold the switch why you switch from foward
to reverse.
Thanks
