Almost 30 boats made the West Michigan Offshore run Saturday from Grand Haven to Muskegon to share stories and comradery at The Deck on the Muskegon Beach waterfront. As said, Lake Michigan was awesome for a fun day on the water.
As Darmon Schoonmaker said after making the run in his Powerquest, "It was a bummer to hear we had to cancel the Friday night run due to an issue with the venue, but Saturday turned out to be perfect. It was a great time! It’s nice to see so many like minded people come together and share their passion for boating, big or small. There are WMO events that we raise money for great causes and are able to give back to our community, and events like the Summer Blast that bring us all together to do what we love. Any day on the water is a good day.
Some of the boats slowed down coming into the outside breakwater as there was heavy traffic coming out. It was good to see multiple boats coming in together while paying close attention to regular traffic.
Even the Sheriff was having a great day running around on Lake Michigan and its channel to Muskegon Lake. Sometimes that has to be one of the best summer jobs possible.
But, when you have a beautiful gold-tone sunrise on the water of the Gold Coast, that's the way a perfect boating weekend is supposed to come together. Makes a missed Friday evening pretty dang easy to forget.
Enjoy some shots of those who made the run Saturday. As you can tell from the lack of shirts in many places, the weather was awesome! (P.S., I'm pretty sure a couple of these were not West Michigan Offshore members).
