One of the special people in Offshore Racing and Performance Boating was West Michigan's Keith Holmes. As part of the Cat Can Do race team, Keith was respected as one of those whose team performed at a level above the budget they had to spend. Plus, almost everybody really liked the guy. Unfortunately, Keith was taken from us in a horrific race accident three short years ago. Every year West Michigan Offshore holds their tribute run to Keith. He is sorely missed.

West Michigan offshore president, Roger Zuidema, mentioned that Keith would be proud as West Michigan Offshore members pointed to the sky in remembrance. This years run attracted 32 boats which ventured from Grand Haven to Muskegon in Keith's honor.
Three of Keith's teammates and friends. Dave, Mike, and Barry, (Thanks Roger)

Everyone tells me it was not foggy in Grand HAven, but the fog kept getting thicker and thicker in Muskegon. When the first two boats arrived, they were obviously staying close to the shore to tell where the heck things were. They had to turn out to get past the South Pier.
What it looked like in the soup from the Pier. No photo enhancement to cut through the fog.
First two boats to arrive Muskegon. Photo enhancement required to get through the fog.
A familiar sight to those who boat in the Muskegon area.
Keith's friend Mike arriving in the Sutphen Keith made famous with a great airshot back a few years.
A bit foggy, but a great way to honor someone so many in West Michigan, and around the World, came to know as a great competitor and person. He is remembered and missed much more often than once a year at this event.
RIP Always

It did save some weight also. Diets are always a good thing in a race boat, as long as the strength of the lamination is not sacrificed.
