Since that time, we here at Serious Offshore Sports have once again had the opportunity to watch the creation of a one of a kind Skater come from a waxed mold, to a finished project. Well, that finished project hit the water today, so now we can finally chat about the build and show some of the photos as we have followed it.
It floats!!
On March 5th, the boat looked exactly like this, with no trailer started!!
On October 11th, it left Skater for its permanent home, on it's new reversed tilt trailer, looking like this.
Skater designed and built the new tilt trailer in reverse of all other tilt trailers they have built. There is a special spot saved for the boat to be displayed in the showroom at Performance Boat Center, and it needed to be reversed to make it possible.
Myrick Coil, the winning driver of the LOTO Shootout Top Gun award this year at 208 MPH, will be on the throttles of the new race boat at the SBI Key West Worlds this November. Lance Sutton, former driver of the Octane Super Vee Lite race boat, will be behind the steering wheel.
The two of them came up this September to cut the canopy to the correct height, and cut the window slots to the correct heights and sizes for this four person race boat. They succeeded in making this the sleekest canopy we've ever seen on a 4 person configuration. Congratulations, making the trip to accomplish this was definitely worth it.
Myrick and Lance cutting the window slots to the right height.
Figuring out what's next after the slots were cut.
Moving the hull for what's next.
Rigging
Sweet!!
Amazingly sleek for a four person canopy. And how about those air intakes?
We will be adding other photos from the build in the next few days.
Good luck to Lance, Myrick, Andy, Brett, Mark, and all of the others from Performance Power Boats on Lake of The Ozarks. It is always very special for us to see another race team join the ranks. There is nothing else like offshore racing!!
