$20,000 and you're into Konrads with no issues from everything I've seen so far.

No drive issues but plenty of issues with homemade "garage motors."

Been there, done that, got the t-shirt!

That boat for $20k, + $20k Konrads + $20k for a pair of used Merc 525's = $60k for a boat that will be worth $30k at best.

Not a bad deal, but I think that one with 3's that need interior may have been a better deal. That boat is underpowered IMO.

when I see an older cig out of the Chicago area I always wonder if it is the infamous "duct tape boat" somebody on here would know for sure.

There is a #3 kevlar boat mentioned on OSO Cig forum.
More $, but i think in the end, you'll be ahead of the game.

Which one? The kevlar boat or the one in IL?

That Boat is Dirty Baby , no the Duct Tape Mistresss. Thats a pretty good ole Flat deck ,he hasn't used it in a while . Only reason he is selling it is he wants to finish his other Cig " the Beast " A staggered 38

For the record...the "Duct Tape" Mistress was a smear more against me.All my good friends in Chicago decided they would have a good laugh on me.Most of them who slammed it never even saw the boat and posted on rumor....no surprise.
***** ******* Phucked up the boat with crappy repairs. The boat needed MINOR gelcoat repair and he did a bunch of grinding that was unnecessary, causing a larger problem.Under no circumstances should this crook work on anyone's boat.
The Mistress was a fresh water boat with 370 original hours. The surveyor looked at the boat and told me it was the nicest example he had ever seen.

It was repaired correctly,I sold the boat,it is in Florida and the owner has called me a few times to tell me how much he loves the boat

Beast is a staggered 39, Bri. :)

And I've been tied up with Dirty Baby before...it was a few years ago in Michigan City, but she was a nice ride then...I'd say go for it if you like it...definately a wave crusher.

So... not to break anyone's balls or anything, but who hear has actually run Konrads? Biggus, Elite Kirk and the Foutain/Konrad race guys are the only ones that come to mind.

I hear people throw out that "put Konrads on it and the sun will always shine, you'll win the state lottery, and Elle MacPhereson will start booty calling you..." But I wondered about real experience and the "worth it" factor.

Sorry Paul, not busting your balls, this just happened to be the time when I'd finally heard it enough to ask (It's really stormrider Rob's fault! :D )

I've only got two, not 18 like Bobcat. (Do cats get new balls with every life?)

Honestly don't know about how many Konrad conversions have been done. I have never heard of a failure or major complaint though.

Kool-aid Man with the silver/blue 90 mph paint-job Top Gun is running Konrads from a TRS conversion...850 hp blower motors and NO PROBLEM.

What about boat performance with the Konrads? Faster or slower than with the TRS?

Kool-Aid Man
08-17-2009, 01:15 PM
Can't really comment about performance because I didn't have a baseline. New power and drives went in at the same time but no problems to date and i'm very happy with the set up!!!

Was that the bolt on TRS replacement drive package? Legs only, or transom assemblys too?

Kool-Aid Man

Thanks i appreciate it!!

yes drives and transome only and obviously no extension boxes with the tranny's.

I have huber 1450's but with the drives i did pay extra for the heavy duty upper gear set.

Theres a guy running them up here on a 38 Flat deck with a few failures, as far as I know Konrad made good on it each time.

There is a DCB up in Sabego that went from Bravo to Konrad ACE units and he I think only lost a 3MPH. I think however he got that back with some set up changes. He did not care however as he has not blown a drive since. Boat runse I think 132?

I beg to differ. TRS can handle 750 Hp all day long with the rite man behind the sticks. That is me. LOL

I pretty much agree on the 750hp if the boat is no heavier than 10,000 lbs.

And you're on the sticks of course.......:sifone:
