The latest out of Outerlimits is the New 40 GTX. This boat blends the styling cues from the 39 GTX with the race proven bottom of the SV40. The first 40 GTX is powered by Ilmor 650's and the Indy Drive System, and is capable of producing speeds of 115 mph!!!!!

Pro 1, those numbers were with the Previous Generation Ilmors, the new 650's are a completely new animal, not to mention the new Drive System is pretty Trick.

I see no tug of war between the two engine builders. If ilmor has a pulse they win.

I checked out those drives in Havasu this year, and they sure are a good looking drive if nothing else. The rep said they'll handle quite a bit of torque/hp.

That interior shocked me at first! It's probably the most tame layout I've seen come out of Outerlimits in a while. It looks sharp! :coolgleamA:

I agree and I like it. Simple and offshore should go hand-in-hand in my opinion!

This boat is remarkably stunning, for as simple as it is. It just goes to show that simple can be as cool as exotic. The plain white canvas allows the true lines of the boat to stand out.

I'm really curious to see how those new Indy's will stand up over time. I really don't now much about them.

The boat looks sick and 115 mph on 650's is sounding good!

This particular boat has a half cabin, U shaped seating area and a porta potti . However the boat can be made with a V-Berth if requested, or the U shaped seating can be made with filler cushions for sleeping. The porta potti is also available in a flush toilet with holding tank.

Tim,

I am leaving for an unexpected trip to Michigan to cover the races.

If it was a paying photo shoot I can be there right after the NJPPC Poker Run which is next weekend. But I understand how tight everything is right now.

Anytime you guys need someone to shoot, call me and we can try to work something out.

I would be more than happy to do it.:)

PS

PM me your Cell Number.

http://www.mercuryracing.com/_media/pdf/Merc-vs-Ilmore--Boating.pdfAll bets are off on that report now. It's now a compete package from Ilmor, from crank pulley to prop nut. Bring on another round of testing!

Having had the oportunity to spend a few days with the Ilmor people at the shop, it is evident in the detail and engineering that went into this new engine / drive package. These motors are a completely new animal from the gen 3 Ilmors. The Nema 2000 network is incredible, and the variable cam on the 650 is ahead of it's time.
