"Madison" If you haven't seen it,it is a must see, even if it's from 2004. Crank up the volume, music is great, and it is a true story. Boat racing at it's best, underdog beats the big money guys.Seeing the old unlimited boats racing(even tho it's staged for the cameras)will make you feel good.Check it out.

Yeah- it's a good flick. Sort of a Field of Dreams on water.

I liked the part when the went to the staic P-51 in a park for parts. Not sure if that was true I usually can claim I have done worse to better but that is hard to top!

I'm not one to purchase DVD movies, probably only have 5.
Madison is one of them.

As long as you like feel good/underdog wins/true story/racing movies, be sure to watch "The World's Fastest Indian". Amazing true motorcycle racing story.

I saw Madison years ago, and thought it was pretty good. Keep a copy in my collection. The race scenes sound great with the surround cranked. If you like boats, it's a must see.

SteveThat part of the story was embellished I am told. Plus, a P-51 was Packard (Merlin) powered and I am pretty sure the Miss Madison ran Allison power. A good friend of mine is from Madison, IN. I attended my first Unlimited Hydro race there in 1988 and had a blast. We stayed at a bed and breakfast down by the river and the Jif boat team was staying there as well. Had breakfast with them in the mornings and they were very cool guys. It was around October of 2001 when I was back in Madison with my friend enroute to the Charlotte Cup race. We spent the night at his sister's house and he mentioned that they were filming scenes for that movie. We walked down to the river and they had some of the camera boats there. They were basically jon boats with plywood front ends on them to make them look like the real thing. There were also some real boats on trailers in the parking lot. Pretty cool. Love that movie.

While portions of the movie have been embellished, (stealing the engine from the monument) the soul of their race program and the community of Madison, Indiana the are represented intact. The Miss Madison (O Boy Oberto) program is the oldest continuous race team, under the same ownership, in any motorsport, (started in 1961). I've had the good fortune of driving for them since 2001. Things have changed a bit in terms of their success. While we're still scrappers at heart, we win now, set records, and win national championships. But it's the legacy of who they were and where they came from that's the fire that keeps them working so hard. They never take anything for granted, and in 48 years of racing never mistook their sweat for perfume :)

While likely embellished, the possibility isn't that far-fetched. By the late 50's the government was selling mil surplus like that for pocket change. And giving them away to cities, airports, VFW's and anyone that would take them. My father's boss bought a P-51 just because it was almost free. We used to go to the factory on Saturdays and he'd fire it up and buzz around the parking lot in it. I was just a little kid. The thing just sat on the edge of the lot like an old farm pickup truck. I remember him saying it cost way more to get it to the factory than the plane cost him. That plane today- I hate to think what it would be worth.

a restored P-51 today is around 1.5 to 2 Million Dollars!

In 1987 we looked at one for about $250,000 USD. Warbirds are always going up in price, but they are also expensive to operate, for example Insurance is around $40,000 a year!

If you think the movie is good....I had the pleasure of working on the sety when they did alot of the racing scenes....The Evans, Mark and Mitch, did alot of the driving! It was a blast being involved from the filming side....I was doing work with the camera boat for Studio Sea and the camera boat was the 43 Scarab from Thunder in Paradise!!!!
