Mahopac Marine Hudson River Fun Run Photos

Charlie and Tom of a Sunsation Dealer called Mahopac Marine of Mahopac New York had planned an early Spring get together on the Hudson River to kick off the 2009 boating season in the Northeast.

With threatening forecasts of wet weather for the entire weekend I am sure it kept some people on their trailers.
As I drove towards New York I was hitting some heavy rain at 5 AM. All I could count on was my prayers for a window of opportunity to get through this day with some over cast.

By the time we all made it to the water the rain tapered off. With a few phone calls up north and to the south, we had good news and bad news. The sun was breaking out in Newburgh and a clearing in the sky was making it's way south. South of us towards NY City was still down pouring rain.
So we made a decision to run north towards the sunny weather and then follow it down to NY Harbor. As we came upon the Tappan Zee Bridge on the way back south, we all stopped in at a waterfront restuarant for a bite to eat. From there, we fueled up and headed for the big water along side NY City. Plenty of air time was had by all that were tempted to come down that far. As we made our way back to the ramp the sun began to set.
We were not only spared the rain and the thunderstorms, but we had sun most of the day and were blessed with a nice sunset over Bear Mountain...

I personally would like to thank Charlie and Tom of Mahopac Marine for getting everyone out on their boats early in the season. It kept many people from waiting for the actual warm weather to hit before working on their boats.
I huge thank you as well for inviting Sharkey-Images to come shoot the event for them as well as Performance Boats Magazine.

All photos are being processed and uploaded. Some are already available for viewing but I will be loading so many more over the next few days.

Mahopac Marine would like to thank everyone that came out and helped with our first annual Hudson River Fun Run!
The attendance was fantastic even with the rain drizzle in the morning. The day turned out absolutely beautiful. There are so many people that have been looking forward to something like this for a long time and we are glad we made it happen!!!

I'd also like to thank the guys at TZ Marine for all their help and use of their launch.
They made it hassle free!
Oh, and for being my personal tour guide down the east river, hells gate and down to the Statue Of Liberty.
We made it under the bridge by about a foot with a 20mph current going sideways, around a few floating tires past a high speed tour boat, went under a few bridges packed with traffic at about 75mph and all that before we even got to Hell's Gate. Reminded me of Miami Vice. lol:cool:

Just an update !

I received confirmation my order has been shipped. I hope to have the prints in another day or two. Then they will all go to Mahopac Marine for distribution.

As many of you are aware I shot over 2000 images on that Run. So it took some time to go through them but to make matters worse I had 2 new programs I was working with on the laptop. As I went through the 1st program which I found to be great in many ways for all sorts of things I decided to give the 2nd program a try. I narrowed the images down to 1000 and had many of them already processed in the 1st program. But then when I saw how much more I was able to do with the second program, I basically started reprocessing all 1000 images all over again. :ack2:

I want to thank everyone for their patience.

It was like studying for finals back in school all over again. Cramming two huge software image editing programs in the matter of a few weeks was insane, but I feel I have a handle on it now. Still much to learn but it will come with time.

Just picture someone picking up Photoshop CS 4 without ever knowing what was in the previous versions.:ack2: Hope to get that one day too !:sifone:

If the images come out just half as nice as they seem to look on my PC, I believe all of you will be pleased. And if not? Well, what do you want for nothing..... hahahahaha ! :biggrinjester:

I thought for a minute I may have had a total loss from Ocean City being as I made the decision to shoot from the beach. I am learning more and more about what is inside this little laptop and I am liking the results on most of the images so far.....

I know people really don't want to wait, but I just refuse to throw the images up online for the sake of having them online. The image is not a finished product until the processing is done.

Sure I could have thrown all low res jpegs up for people to view, but it would not have been a good representation of how the image comes out in the end. ;)

No idea... On a side note, Tim, if I sent you a pic would you be able to clean it up or do whatever you can to it to make it look incredible and make me a print of it? A friend of mines Dad passed away a little over a month ago and I would like to frame it and give it to his Mother. Let me know how much for the print and where to send it to, PM me if needed. It's digital, and I took the picture the end of last summer while we were all camping in 1000 Islands. So yes, I give you permission :sifone:

What size are you looking to make?

It is very under exposed and I am messing with few filters that seem ok when it is a smaller pic. Once I go to 100% it's still not the greatest.
