Man charged with drunk driving on bar stool
Cops: 28-year-old wrecked stool powered by a deconstructed lawn mower

NEWARK, Ohio - A 28-year-old man has been charged with drunken driving after crashing his motorized bar stool, Ohio authorities said.

Police in Newark, 30 miles east of Columbus, say when they responded to a report of a crash with injuries on March 4, they found a man who had wrecked a bar stool powered by a deconstructed lawn mower.

Police released the 911 tapes, revealing the calm exchange between the driver's friend and the dispatcher.

"I got a friend who wrecked a bar stool," the caller said.

When asked by the dispatcher whether he hit his head inside the bar, the friend replied, "Um, no, he was riding the bar stool ... a motorized bar stool."

Kile Wygle, the bar-stool rider, was hospitalized for minor injuries.

During an interview after his crash, Wygle told the reporter, "I drank quite a bit after I wrecked."

Police say he was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated after he told an officer at the hospital that he had consumed 15 beers.

Wygle told police his motorized bar stool can go up to 38 mph.

Wygle has pleaded not guilty and has requested a jury trial.

I love the wheelie bar!!! Wonder if he parties with the redneck that was posted a couple weeks ago getting pulled over multiple times drunk, riding a lawnmower..all on dash cam.......you know I never really thought about it, but I have a big yard and a riding lawnmower, and I used to mow my parents yard with it several blocks away and never thought twice about riding from here to there with a beer in my hand...

well he is entitled to a jury of his peers...and if his peers are drunken barstool riders.....

imagine fighting a no wake zone ticket, and the jury consists of Stecz, Bobcat, pengy, Fundy, and I.........

He is in Ohio... I say he rolls the dice on a jury of drunken peers who want to ride it. If I were a juror, I would insist.

Be careful with pengy... he likes the manatees, he could turn on us.

I want to ride the barstool. There is also a guy in Ohio with a 20 foot tall shopping cart with a 454 in it. :D

Worst thing I ever saw was in cali... the cops were majorly hassling a guy and gave him a dui outside a bar.... the guy knew he was going to the bar, he knew he was on a drinking mission..so he rode his bike..not Harley, but Huffy... the guy tried to do the responsible thing, not driving his car when he knew he was gonna be drunk. giving the guy a dui which will suspend his liscense and cost thousands of dollars for trying to be responsible?? thats just not cool.

I am not an attorney either... but I think that you just added a charge on yourself. Now we have a DUI, and a not street legal.

Let's go in and say that you were on the barstool at a bar, and some people at the bar punked you, and you were lucky to be alive but you don't want to press charges or anything. Lesson learned. In fact, you are a hero for not hitting any schools or day cares while you struggled for control having found yourself going from zero to 35 without warning. :sifone:

What about a couch with two wheels up front and the business end of a motorcycle out back. Steering linkage could go under the couch and the front wheels could be outboard. :)

I am think that the front wheels should be sprung and have shocks. Maybe we can get some wheels from a rail dragster.
