Does anyone have a line on which depth finders will work under a step hull with any consistency?

My Livorsi seems to read pretty accurate on a stepped hull.

It's not about a stepped hull. It's about placement and coring/construction of the hull. Your best bet is to have it in front of the foremost step. You want it at the very center of the "V", just off to one side or the other. It is going to have to be bonded to the hull with epoxy. If you have a cored hull, you are less likely to have good results. If you have a solid hull, you ought to have great results.

I put the smallest Eagle fishfinder I could find on......shoots right through the hull....good depthfinder.....gives trends of the bottom, like if its gradual or a series of rock shelfs ....you can tell if its muddy or rocky too......and I dont fish......I only use it running dead slow.....I usaually use it to back up my eyeball assesments
