I've always loved the band, and I know there are a few other fans on board here - the Canucks -(AR15, Cosmic, PMT, Perl) and I know Nick is also a fan.
Oh, and there is that 2112 guy, I think he may have heard of them.
Good video coverage.

Rush is one of my favorites.

Someday I expect Canada will replace their national anthem with "Working Man"

You can probably rent Rush in Rio for a buck. If you're a Rush fan, I can't imagine you don't own it.

Hey what's a Canadian have to do around here to be considered a RUSH fan ???
Post a flag in my profile... :D :D
Then again membership in the above group may not help my rep ..... :sifone:

I think Rush is like Zep, Hendrix or the Stones. Unless you overtly proclaim you don't like them, it's assumed you're a fan.

Didn't mean to leave you out - or anyone else.
I agree with Chris, you either love them or hate them.
What I really like is that they are not "over-played" on radio. Zep, AC/DC... I'm tired of hearing the same songs over and over.

I saw Rush somewhere around '91 on the Roll the Bones tour.

Do a search on VH1 Classic for when they run it again, it's worth watching!
All the best songs, and the video was very clear and well edited.

Working Man as the national anthem - I like that idea on so many levels.

wow, I almost forgot his name.
I bought the first album (vinyl) and it had RUSH on one side, and "fly by night" on the other side. So many great songs on those two albums.

Rutsey was pretty darn good actually. It is just unfair when you are replaced by the finest ever known.

One of the things that I always loved about this band is the mastery of their instruments/skills.

I remember reading that Alex practiced the guitar rif/solo in "freewill" so many times to be ready for tour, that he can now play it while intently watching TV. :sifone:

I'll stand by my statement that Alex is the most underrated guitar player out there.
Considering the level of Geddy, and Neil, I guess someone just had to be last.
Funny, Who did the majority of their songwriting? I'm surprised I don't know this.
Because the songs and topics are as impressive as the music behind them.

Neil writes 99% of the Lyrics. Geddy and Alex the music. They present their semi finished product to Neil who then adds percussion, Then the refinement comes.

On their S&A DVD (not Bluray concert) they have a 30 minute documentary on the making of S&A. Worth watching. :)

Didn't realize Neil did the writing.
It would be kind of scary to get into that guys head. Some deep stuff.
I'll have to search for the S&A vid.

WOW, that was incredible.
I've always loved the song.
The guy that did the video did a great job - can you post a link that I can say a thank you? I couldn't get there off that page.
Very cool.

I also didn't know that YYZ stood for the Toronto Airport, or that the Morse code for Y-Y-Z was the same beat as the song.
Like I said, I'd be afraid to get into Neil's head.

Neil Peart simply rocks. I played drums in high school, but was never that good.

This is the story of how "Red Barchetta" was inspired and how the original story teller and Neil got together on a BMW bike trip.

they met up at a local bmw dealer, Bobs Bmw, here in Jessup MD, i used to deliver to him. Bob used to go to swap meets in germany and buy all the old factory NOS parts of older BMW bike. they called him the lil man that bought junk...well after he bought all the old stock from the factory, he cornered the market. he is now known as the rich man that thought ahead.
