Someone posted this on the other forum and I thought it was a cool idea and could make for some interesting reading.

You are given 1000000million. What boat(s) do you buy? Lets say a maximum of 3 boats so us dreamers dont get too excited.

Power?

Paint?

Other details?

Why on all details???

Can I spend 2/3rds of the hundred mil on maintenance and expenses? Otherwise, I'm buying Top Gun with Merc 525's.

I will start.

Before I built the boats I would comission an architect to build me the biggest boathouse Northern Ontario has ever seen complete with a full shop, lifts, disco, launch ramp, couch for sleeping/passing out, industrial beer fridge, cages for my many wives, etc. It would also have a living area on top where I would reside with my favourite wife and have a fireman pole that I could take right into the boathouse every morning to get in a boat or onto a snowmobile or whatever. Ok boats......

I would first go to Skater and have them build me an all black 46 foot canopy boat. I would then fly to Chief Engines and have them build me the baddest motors possible, 3 sets of them. I would run #6 drives and have 3 sets as well. I would use this boat for poker runs and scaring people.

Then I would buy a 41 Apache. I would paint it like the old banner boat or exactly like Warpath and put another set of Chief motors in it. #6 drives. 6 pack cockpit. Rock and Roll. I would use this boat for poker runs and fishing.

Lastly I would take my Pantera to the factory, have the guys redo it completely and drop in a 1200hp blower motor mated to a #6 drive. I would take this to get groceries at the cottage.

OL 52, twin turbines and surface drives so it's not getting fixed every weekend, loaded with a nortech style bar in the cockpit, complete with push button pop-out steps on the side of the hull, so drunk people swimming can climb up and over the side, not climb around sharp props.

twin turbine mystic for going fast.

and a big azimut for a mother ship.

Find a as close to perfect mid 90s Top Gun take it to Outerlimits splash a one time mold (after blue printing and perfecting the bottom) and pull a new hull with all of the new tch and materials throw in a pair of 1075s 6drv's very little grafics all white cockpit and cabin and be very happy the rest of my days. Remember this is all done with stupid money. And I don't need no stepps.

First, I would buy a 44 MTI canopied (I like the look of the hump on the back), and have it done with a simple classy paint job. It would have turbines and BPM drives. It would be my poker run boat.

Second, Formula 400SS with 700 NXTs. This would be the party barge. Nothing super fancy, but good to have around for chillin!

Third, I would buy an older picklefork and have it done up in an Indian Larry / Rat Fink type paint job. Just old school with big power and either a V drive or a jet.

Fourth, 30 foot cig mystic with 600s and Bravo XR ITS. Nothing to crazy, the boat that you can run forever and it wont give you a headache!

Fifth and final, a Supra Launch with the worlds package for chilling out and wakeboarding.

I think I covered everything!

Just been around long enough to know that the purchase price is the tip of the iceberg. You think our boats are expensive? Wait until you start paying dockage, maintenance and captain/crew salaries on a big boat.

Assuming that with that money I can retire, move to south Florida, and afford maintenance, tow vehicles, etc

1) 44 MTI with 1075 Mercs - poker runs thrill rides
2) Big Midnight Express or Deep Impact Center Console with Quad 350 Verados - playing around, island and bar hopping
3) Some kind of big sport cruiser, maybe a Baia or Sunseeker - use for the long cruises, traveling in style

If you scratch the unlimited funds and someone is just going to give me boats to use where I live now and I have to maintain them myself....

1) 38 Top Gun with 525s - poker runs and having fun
2) Low 30' range center console with a pair of 300 or 350 Verados - maintenance free toy to bring to the beach, fish, or whatever
3) Southbay Party Barge with a 300 Verado - Night rides, haul crowds up and down the river, hit the bars, etc.

Maybe I am thinking too small, but If I could only have one boat and it was on lake Travis, I would probably get a new Formula 400ss with twin 525's. :D

However, if I truely had "unlimited money", I would own more than one boat. In addition to the Formula 400ss, I would want a Poker Run boat. A new 39-foot Cigarette TopGun with 700 NXTs would be fine with me. :D

For cruising the Caribbean, I would want a Lagoon 440 sailing catamaran (http://www.festivasailingvacations.com/ourfleetoverview.aspx)!

Some of the dream boats mentioned in this thread are very nice. I guess I just think a little smaller.

I know it sounds boring but I would probably take a pretty sensible approach to boat ownership at this point in my life if money was not a problem. I'd probably pick up a 32-38 ft V with 525 or 600's in it and get used to running it and get some more experience under my belt before I decided to go out an get the 50 Mystic (pleasure version) with twin turbines. I'd also get a cruiser (40 ft or so) and pretty much give it to one of my buddies and just tell them where to anchor so that we could have party on that thing while I buzz around with all of the incredibly hot chicks with loose morals that only hang out with me because I have money.

good call, that is one serious boat. but what was the one that had the all black 36 apache as its tender. I am surprised no one mentioned that boat.

Saw that Apache at Burnham in Chicago last summer... That boat is absolutely sinister.

I also saw it while out for the Chicago air and water show. The driver was whipping in and out of boats set up to watch the air planes. It seemed a bit foolish, but it was a sweet boat.

OK, you gotta put limits on this, so....just one boat.

I'd have to stay vee, cause I'm a vee guy.

I'd have to stay Cig,cause I'm a Cig guy.

So, with that said....

I'd go old school Lip-Ship...Cig/Zul/Harold combo.

Boat:

A new 50 Maurader, built from the ground up by Phil.

Paint:

Start with a subtle but detailed paint job by Harold. Do a solid color (with subtle micro flake) down the sides, either midnight blue or midnight purple or black with lots of ghost patterns. and the cig emblem "back lit" like an eclipse. Do the deck and other parts in slate/charcoal grey, again with lots of ghost patterns and designs to be determined.

Power/drives:

Staggared (not trips) 1200 Zuls (seems a good round number to get decent speeds out of with decent reliability). I don't like Tripples. Engines custom painted to match boat with charcoal blocks offset by boat color.

#6 drives (of course) painted charcoal to match boat.

Boat hardware:

Polished billet swim step, all Billet handles and billet accents.

Cockpit interior:

I'd do 4 electric bolsters in the cockpit with three more along the back instead of bench (I like the look and the capability of carrying more people comfortably). The interior would be a swede/leather two tone, charcoal grey and white with the other dark color (on the side of the boat) to offset.

Cabin interior:

I'd do cover girl cabin with a hard wall at the bulk head and door going through to the bow area where I'd put a finished head and storage. Custom built oversized fridge/cooler.

Entertainment/stereo:

6 LCDS in the cabin. one on each side as you enter the cabin facing forward. two the starboard side facing port and two vise/versa.

1 LCD screen in the back of each bolster in the cockpit (total of 4).

Underwater LED lights at transom as well as underwater video hooked to all LCD's.

Stereo: Alpine DVD/head unit with ipod docking station. 4 JL Audio twelve" subs lit by LED under the rear bolsters in the cockpit. A set of JL seperates at each seat on both the port and starboard sides (6 sets total). Four more sets of seperates in the cabin. All speakers covered by billet grilles back lit with LED lighting. 4 2,000 watt Percision Power amps built on a custom billet rack back lit by LED. Sound in cabin could be seperately controlled to the DVD/TV's in cabin.

Intercom system.

I'd put LED "mood lighting in cabin, cockpit and engine compartment that could/would rotate to various colors.

cockpit, cabin and engine lights would be the super bright white lights.

Guages:

Lavorsi carbin fiber gauges chrome rings with chosen color of boat for bezzles. Carbin fiber dash, fuse and stereo panels.

Trailer:

Aluminum Myco with CNC'd back lit lettering.

During the build, I'd come up with some crazyazz custom touches. It'd basically be a show boat built in the tradition of a show car but ready to punish the water!

So, now all I have to do is win the lottery.

I need to win the lottery, T2x just offered me a killer deal on a custom Schwartzcraft. the ultimate dream boat. Reggie tried to buy one last year and they refused. Everybody seems to be throwing in Tres's class with purchase, but Scwartzcraft is the first to include Tres's advanced class PLUS a week at space camp!!

that ferry's got a lot of miles on her. What does the plaque read, something about the captain having traveled 15K miles without ever being more than a half mile from home. Hey thats a cable ferry . . . not go'in to far with that :D

Yes that is taken from the Landings Res.,not fancy, but good beer drinking food. The Ironton Ferry is on cables, but they do take it down to the Boyne City boat launch every couple years and pull it out to update engines and clutches. The orginal ferry was pulled by horses on each side on the channel.
