You would think that in NH I would have found some moose slippers, but I don't remember seeing any! I found moose everything else though. Plus some really unfriendly people once they found out what we were here to do. The little hotels here (all 3 of them) used to run "moose tours" where there is now a federal prison. They didn't like the construction folks much at ALL. For the first year and a half, the moose would just wander onto the site while work was going on. Had some bears in the dumpsters too. You just never knew what you would see when you went to work!

Dr. said to expect it....She's allergic to penicillian (of course, the cure all!!!), so has to take 3 pills at a time 3 x a day of a non - pncln based med.. thats causing the upset....Its already getting dark here....

Thank you for the advice. Its nice to know people are watching our backs. She was born sick and had a near fatal episode. Not just penicillian, but its derivatives, too. Very important words, derivatives...The Dr. commented on that. Was important to mention. She has an Alert bracelet, but does she wear it????:toetap05:

Ange
01-19-2010, 10:37 AM
Jann, saying that she doesn't wear the alert bracelet made me think about something. Tell you you are taking her to get a tattoo. Of the alert bracelet. Bet she won't forget to wear that one! Is it something that she could wear on a necklace under her shirt if she didn't want everyone to see it?

MarylandMark

Print this out:

"Allergic to ALL penicillin products and their derivatives".

Then tape it to the back side of her drivers license. (ScarabKV- if you do this, use clear tape- electrical tape doesn't work as well...LOL!! )

God forbid if some thing were to happen and she couldn't tell some body this info, the first thing most people do is look for an ID. This will give them this crucial info in a split second.

On the back of my drivers license I have a few phone names/numbers of close (as in distance) relatives and a friend, just in case. They say to put on your cell "ICE"- in case of emergency for your closest relative but I keep my keypad locked so that doesn't work so well.

We are taking Riley to the Dog Warden today. Maxx is going to surrender him. It's the best thing. Even tho he bit Britt, he prefers her lap to any other! Sad, sad day...

Mark, asked Britt to put that on tape and put it on her license. She actually agreed!

MarylandMark
01-19-2010, 12:01 PM
Is the state forcing you to do this because he bit her or do you feel he is a continued threat? I'm not blaming Britt by any means but IMHO from what you have shared I'm not so sure I'd agree with this action.....

Sorry if I am over stepping my bounds; just most dogs react, even if it was nothing she did, he could have been startled or his vision going or some thing along those lines.

Heading to DC tonight for "Resturant Week (http://washington.org/restaurantwk/)"- discounted meals to try to spur business. It works, we go every year. $20.10 for lunch, $35.10 for dinner. Mornin all, Picked up the wife, daughter and grandma from the airport last night. We got home and my wife feels cold and wants to take a hot bath, she starts running the water and after a min or so the water turns orange. I go down and check on the water softener and guess what the lady checking on our house never put any salt in. Thankfully the orange water didn't get into anything else and stain it. Put salt in hit regenerate last night and she is doing some test washing of some white rags this AM. Also set my appointment with my customer for 10am Monday. 5ish hour drive, so I haven't decided if I'm driving down Sunday or early Monday. I had plenty of grandma to last a long time. Her deceased husband was a lifelong alcoholic so for her to get attention from him she would say really dumb things to trigger a response. After 30 plus years of doing that, I guess she can't stop, example: we were in the Keys and just starting to drive over the 7 MILE bridge and she ask us, "do they call this the 7 MILE bridge cause there are seven keys?"

So after feeling rough Friday from my Thursday PM adventures at Rotary Club, we went to Captain Johns (http://www.cjcrab.com/) for seafood last night. It's an old salt crabbers place that has been around for close to 50 years with little improvements. Offshoredrillin owns a summer house across the street and 45Sonic has his Summer house on the other side of the island as well as his 50 Sea Ray at the next marina down.

Anyway- walk in, put $15 up for Keno and 1st game hit for $300 plus the 2 time bonus for a total of $600. So needless to say I had to pay the tab but since all 4 of us were a little slow from the night before it was only $240. Not bad getting paid to eat and drink! I'm not a draft beer fan but that place has the coldest drafts in the area so I was swigging them back pretty good! Sweet!!

Tonight heading to a birthday party for a good friend. I dated his daughter for a few years, a few years ago and him and I have remained great friends ever since. He's looking for a 441 Meridian (http://www.meridian-yachts.com/Page.aspx/pageId/14056/pmid/122520/441-Sedan.aspx)right now- nice boat!! So anyway- my ex-GF/ his daughter's house was in the paper for foreclosure yesterday- ouch! I gave him a heads up because I didn't think he had any idea, which it sounds like he didn't.

Not, we men are missing certain genes, I know I'm missing the packing for a trip gene cause it takes me about 2 mins to pack, underwear, check, socks, check all done lets go, and takes my wife a day.

I do have the on time gene, the people we went skiing with really lacked the hurry up gene. It started the first morning going from the hotel via shuttle to the airport for a 7:30 am flight. We got up at 4 caught the 5 am shuttle and were sitting having breakfast at the airport by our gate at 6. The other people caught the 6:30 shuttle and almost missed the flight, but they weren't even trying to hurry!

I run ahead of my appts all week try'n to get them off early to keep roll'n. Sometimes I slip a little on the social side:rolleyes:

I had plenty of grandma to last a long time. Her deceased husband was a lifelong alcoholic so for her to get attention from him she would say really dumb things to trigger a response. After 30 plus years of doing that, I guess she can't stop, example: we were in the Keys and just starting to drive over the 7 MILE bridge and she ask us, "do they call this the 7 MILE bridge cause there are seven keys?"

After a month of that I just strapped her to the roof rack and rolled the windows up:sifone:

But Clarke....we don't have a roof rack:eek:

I'm tired, I had the quarter horse banquet Saturday night and had alot of catching up to do so that ended 1AM Sunday. After I get back to the hotel room my wife informs me that I have to run my daughters boyfriend to the airport for his 6:30 am flight. So I get up at 4 and take him to the airport when I returned My wife checked out of the room and was ready to drive back home in her truck. I stay and attend the board meeting for 5 hours, get done and go home to watch football. I stayed up till the end of the Saints game knowing I had to leave the house this morning at 4AM, so I get up at 3 to shower shave and dress, then a quick run to work. Get to Peoria in plenty of time, an hour early, god it would have felt good to sleep that hour.
I had never met the new crew we got from our customer, new buyer, new quality engineer and new analyst. So I check in the lobby and wait for the buyer, a kid looking 16 come out and yep our new buyer, new to the company, so new that the meeting room he reserved he can't find cause he never been on this side of the building. We find the room and it's booked by someone else so he finds an empty one which the other two can't find now so they call him and show up. In walks another kid maybe 22 fresh out of school and the senior guy of the three a 9 year vet maybe 30, all carrying laptops and date books. So they try hooking up the laptop to the projector system and can't get anything to work, after 15 min I say it's small group lets just look over your shoulder which goes great for 1/2 hour till his battery goes dead. Very professional group of kids:rolleyes:
Anyway I survive the meeting and get home about 5:30 and make dinner the girls show up about 6:15 to eat and my wife tells me I get to run her to the airport tomorrow for a 6:30 AM flight, which means I'll be getting up at like 4AM tomorrow. So yes I'm tired:(

Hello from Annapolis! Well, Edgewater really, but still, it ain't New stinking Hampshire! I really don't want to hear this snow talk, especially if it happens BEFORE we get into a house. Got some boat parts back yesterday so that cheered me up!

Just freshened my dash panels and toggle switches. Same colors as before but they were going on their 3rd season so wanted to put new boots on which turned in to getting the dash panels repainted to look like new as well.

I'm hoping to get a deal on a Garmin 4210 after the new stuff comes out at the Miami show- keep your eyes out for me? I don't need the wiring, just the main screen and then will sell my 3210 without wiring or with the wiring that comes with the 4210 after that. I sure wish the new stuff came in 10" sizes vs either 8" or 12"+...

8+ inches of snow with 2-4 more on the way (guessing)

Thanks Ange for bringing that northern weather with you! ;)

I have a new neighbor-

9/11/09- we moved in, 1st house in neighborhood of 19.

12/18/09- 2nd neighbor moved in; was weekend we got 16 inches of snow! He is 43, 2 young daughters and a widower.

1/29/10- new neighbor moved in, 8 inches of snow on the ground with 2-3 more coming. I may go shovel her driveway to say HI but she's not living there yet. Single lady in hate 40's with a 12 year old daughter, heard she is a widower as well.

Wonder what's up with the widowers- hope I'm not one, or better yet hope my wife-to-be is not going to be one!

Out of 19, only 3 to 7 of them have optional elevator floor plans. We got it, the other 2 that sold were elevator floor plans but they didn't get it- they are walk in closets instead. 3 story houses with main living on 2nd floor. New neighbor put $329K down so I know $$ was not an issue, wonder if it was a bad option to get ($30K)? Then again, she skipped out on a lot of options we have (molding, trim, etc) so may just be how she rolls.

I don't buy new. Let some else take the beating. I look at lease returns. 2-3 years old and the biggest percentage of depreciation behind them. Lori's STS was leased by a law firm. Every option available. Paid 60% less then what it sold for 3 years prior.

Howdy perps! Yea, I move 600 freaking miles south only to get snowed on not once, not twice, but three times in two weeks. What the freaking heck?!?!

We ended up not leaving NH until Monday the 25th. I drove that dang blasted 26' UHaul truck in driving rain for the first several hours. Let me just tell you how much fun THAT was. We spent Tuesday looking at houses. Filled out the application, forked over our $70 application fee Wednesday morning only to have the woman call us at 3 to ask which house we wanted to apply for. So we tell her and think we will be moving in the next day. Oh what lofty aspirations we had. She calls us back about 3:30 on Thursday to ask which house we wanted again. Oh and by they way, they still hadn't even run the credit yet. WTF? 24 hours of doing not a dang thing? Seriously? Friday rolls around and we call her at lunch time. She still hadn't heard anything from the listing agent. She calls the listing agent, calls us back to tell us that the owner has been out of town and won't be back until Saturday. Meanwhile, all of our stuff is still sitting in the UHaul truck in Chuck's aunt's driveway. She did, however, say that she was going to recommend to the owner to rent to us. Well that's just ducky but let's get on the ball people! Saturday morning Chuck says screw it and goes ahead to the bank for the certified check they want for the deposit and first month's rent. While he's in the bank she calls and says that she is getting the lease ready, when do we want to come get it and the keys? And out of the generosity of their hearts, they aren't going to charge us pro-rated rent for the last 1.5 days of January. Finally we get to move in, in the snow of course, last Saturday. We didn't get cable and 'net until Wednesday and the 'net has been spotty. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Yippee.

On the good side, I have a job, I just don't know when I can start! All of the contracts are not quite in place yet, although work has started on a small scale. Which means I will have to go in and play catch up. The project is a bridge rebuild in DC, of which there are several. This one is scheduled for two years. I'll have about a hour's drive each way, but I should be working off times so I will miss a bunch of the traffic.

I have to say I have been getting my money's worth using the GPS on my Droid phone. I love it! Now if someone will stop the dang snowing, it will be perfect!

Well instead of being in Vegas, I get to go down to the shed to move the 4 wheeler so I can get the tractor out. I was thinking about taking the 4 wheeler for a blast but then knew I wouldn't get the plowing done. Feel like a frickin farmer kid now, chores before play crap.

Plowing the neighbors builds character- what builds character is buying a 4 wheel drive truck so I don't need to plow but some how I still have to plow them out? Bah humbug...

I wouldn't be as mad if my truck didn't have dead batteries today. I hit the remote start, it didn't start (18 degrees) so fan and radio ran for a while which drained them enough to not start. Cold diesels are a b*tch to start- need to find my block heater cord to plug it in I guess.

I got some good sunset pics from Mallory Square, but the absolute best one was off of Key Largo. We were driving back into Miami to fly out the next day and passed a place where there was a perfect view of the sunset. Talk about a fast U turn! I had to shoot it through a fence while fire ants were biting my feet. But I got the shot! Let me see if I can find it...

Hello all, just sitting here in the sleet/snow lull, waiting on the rest of the 3-7 inches of that stuff we are supposed to get tonight. To be topped off with the 5-9 more inches of snow coming tomorrow, which will be spread with possible 49 mph wind gusts. Did I move to the top of Mt. Washington and not know it? I could have sworn I moved south. Go figure!

Hello all! Hope everyone had a nice Valentine's Day. We went to the car show in Baltimore on Sunday and they were unable to get all of the cars in because of the weather so we saw about half of what we should have. It just wasn't that great this time.

Made lasagna today and if anyone want's some, head on over! I have about four times what we ate still left over. For some reason, I just don't know how to make a little. I always have two pans. Guess I'm going to freeze one!

Hey All, Not much happening down here and the weather has been cold since Jan 1st. My daughter had her college class in Key West yesterday from 10-2 then a dentist appt after so we were expecting her home about 4:30. About 5 we get a text from her saying there was a car on fire on the 7 Mile bridge and traffic wasn't moving. After a while she turned around and went back to Big Pine to eat, we texted a couple more times during the night to see the progress and around 11:30pm she made it home. This made me wonder what would they do if there was a school bus full of K thru 5 kids waiting.

Mornin all, well our string of weekends kinda starts today, going up to Islamorada for the poker run and if the weather holds fishing tomorrow. My wife wasn't here for Valentine Day so I got her a belated present of a weekend at Little Palm Island the 26th-27th. The weekend after is the National Quarter Horse Banquet in Orlando. The week end after that I get to pull the jet boat up north so the weekend after that is a Horse show in Minnesota. Then I get to drive back down and My Daughters Birthday is the next weekend. Did I mention they're flying? (less potty breaks on the road)

Morn'n all. Went car shopping yesterday to replace Lori's car. I call it shopping....she was bound and determined to come home with a car. I have a friend who works at a dealership who will get me whatever we want through the auctions for $500 over auction price. We always get lease returns for the low mileage. Yesterday was spose to be a compare and drive mission, to give him something to look for. She wanted something similar to her STS. Black on Black, Black leather, chrome wheels, moon roof and loaded with options. My friend had already been looking at similar on the auctions and prices were looking good. Well so much for shopping. We came home with a Pontiac G6. White with light cloth interior, minimal options, no moon roof and plastic wheel covers. This came after a long hard decision between this G6 and one that was Black on Black, Black leather, hardtop convertible, nice wheels, less miles and as loaded as a G6 can get for close to the same amount of money.

Did I mention Lori has always wanted a convertible?
Go figure:huh:
