So I got the letter yesterday. The pics are supposedly dated March 2008; nothing like timeliness. I've read the horror stories so no need to share how difficult these guys can be. Just tell me what kind of deal you struck. I'll see what kind of deal I can get out of them before I mention I sold the boat last year.

That's funny, I was thinking exactly the same thing before I opened the thread. Their reputation is so bad that it isn't even worth opening the envelope.

Yup, I can honestly say I have never heard one good thing about Boatpix.

"Package? What package?...I didn't get any package? Did I authorize you to take pics of me? Did I ask you to mail me anything? No, I didn't think so. Fvck off."

I think that's about the best deal you can make.

I hate those phuckers. Bottom line is, I can't stand any unsolicited "deals."

Just wait until you get a collection letter for the balance after you made the deal

So what you guys are saying, if I can read between the lines, is that I shouldn't give them the time of day at this point...

But d@mn I'm curious what the pics look like.

I'll play devil's advocate. I know one person that got the pics last year, called them and had them send the proof's and couldn't be happier with how it turned out. The pic is great, not sure it was worth the price paid tho.

Let me make sure I understand this correctly....

2 hours of flight time

2000 pics ??? 2000 Prints ? or Digital Negatives ?

1 hour of video

All for $800 ???

How did they even cover the chopper costs on that ???

I can't get chopper off the ground for that let alone the hours and hours it takes to go through 2000 pics & video.

I paid around 1500 for stills and video in 2001 for like a pass around the southside of Key Biscayne through stiltsville maybe 20 mins of actual footage plus his flight time to and from site....So I am guessing an hour of flight time!!!!!!

Do what I did. Take a Hi Res digital photograph of the photograph. Now you have your own copy that you have the rights to. Tell them no thanks and send back the prints. Then clean the photo up to your liking on photo shop. Save the photo to disk and take it to Office Max or Staples and have them make you a print any size you want. A poster size print on a foam backing is around $35

My pops and I bought the pics from boatpixs. We had no problems. But, If your going to dance with the devil, make sure you do what you want with them in one day and then overnight them back! Otherwise you will be holding a receipt for a large amount of $

Or take it to Wal-Mart and make a copy- the $8 hour dude behind the counter could careless about copyrights for a $20 spot...

Yes- stealing but if they weren't such pr1cks I wouldn't suggest doing it.. :biggrinjester:

I paid $200ish bucks for a nice pic from FreezeFrame last month with no problems doing so.
