Call me morbid, but I have a combined fascination and trepidation when seeing marine craft in a non-normal state. Found some interesting sites showing vessels being salvaged, a catalog of maritme disasters and random photos from accidents and storm damage.

Found this one tonight.

Caption read: This is the Yacht Picante which dragged anchor into the rocks and sunk.

When I was a kid, I asked my mom about puttin my toy boat int eh pool. She said yes and went inside the house. Boy was she screaming when she saw my prahm in the pool banging against the tile.

Didn't Mythbusters do an episode where they tried to cut a boat in half on a channel marker (that other famous photo) and claim they couldn't replicate it ("busted")? I'm a little fuzzy, but I thought they used some big nasty ol' resin bucket... I think it's kinda funny that this photo also has a tree stuck half way up the deck of the boat. :26:

I'm not sure who took this picture, but It's a great shot! Bad day for the race team!! Not long after this pic, the bottom peeled off of the boat and they had to beach it so it didn't sink. Look at the cracks forming on the bottom. Ocean City MD-2007???

Oh yah, I didn't think it was phony (I think the Mythbusters show is phony, entertaining as all get out, but totally BS)... I agree, the boat they used was the wrong layup and the condition they were in was the wrong "lay out..."

I wish I took pictures when I was working in Biloxi after Katrina. Saw some very unnusual states for boats.. The eerie ones was when you went kayaking in the bay and floated overtop of sunken boats... you could see the helm and superstructure.
