yes, I know that American Idol was on last night, but I watch a different program.
The Ascent of Money on PBS (http://www.pbs.org/wnet/ascentofmoney/)
It was a fascinating program about higher finance. I especially loved the part about two mathematicans who wrote a formula/program to price options. They were so successful that they won the Nobel Price for economics. Of course two years later they were completely broke! :p
