what . . . . are you trying to corner the market on jet drive Ciggys? . . . this would give you like a 66% market share.

by the way, what took you so long to respond to my post :sifone:

Did anyone notice the yellow one under the car port in the pic of the engine compartment? I remember that one on e-bay a while ago I think.

That yellow one is in Dave's shop right now. Not the same boat.

The cutout on the Ebay boat liiks Volvo to me.

Here's one-

Yellow one is mine - good eye to catch it!

What's interesting on the ebay 20 is the plywood board covering any looks into the bilge area...somewhat concerning.

The yellow one on Ebay isn't yours, is it? In that pic it's on a single-axle trailer.

There are VERY few 24's out there. I have #3. It's at Glassdaves as well. It looks just like a miniature version of the Cig 36- same detail lines, same bow flare.

Why not just buy a new 24.....we make them in outboard and sterndrive models.

We have the old 24 foot Cigarette molds, so you have the exact same seaworthy 8 foot beam boat....only brand new.

We currently have our Demo 2008 boat available....the one in the photo here. Buy it with a brand new outboard of your choice....up to 350 HP.

We can redo the interior to your colors or change the seats for bolsters....everything is custom.

Or we can custom build you a new one. Sterndrives to 525 HP.

t banana,

if someone has a vintage hull that's in good shape , someone comes along and asks is it for sale..everything has a price , but what would be a fair offer/price for both parties..

yes , new is nice ..

You didn't say what brand or size, but I would think first, take a look at the same size boat in today's market.

Does your boat have a history that is worth more? Any name drivers or races that it competed in?

It really comes down to someone wanting a new vs a vintage boat and what they are willing to pay and how much you as the seller want to get rid of it.

We price our new boats by looking a what the current market is. Say a new 26 foot Baja is about $75,000. The base 24 footer we make is under $50,000 The Baja's are manufactured on a production line, we custom build everything. For some buyers, the Baja is the perfect boat.

What is the better boat? Only the buyer in his own mind can make that decision. Everyone today makes a good boat.....only the buyer decides which boat is going to get him closer to the concept, the dream of what he has as his own personal boat in his mind.

We custom build the dream working along with the buyer. We give the buyer access to the kind of personal, hands on build that the Outlerlimits and Nor Tech buyers get, in a much smaller size....or in one of our 41's too!!

I have seen them go for $500 and I have seen them go for $10,000 for a good solid vintage hull.

Like the 24 I got from you. I remember you having it on Ebay several times and finally I just couldn't stand the thought of it being turned into a planter or left to rot. I think you sold it to me for $800 on an Ebay no-reserve auction. It cost me twice that to get it home. That's for an exceptionally cool, very rare hull.

And for the 20's, at some point there will be no more $2000 barn finds left. Then guys that want $150K LipShip 20's will have to spend $20K on half-assed shoeshine restos and throw everything but the bare hull away before shipping them to Phil. But we're not there yet.

your right, I do remember it. I have a feeling the people bidding are going to be hurt when it goes up high, and doesnt go anywhere. the bids look fishy to me, same few people getting it up there.

Wonder if the offshore boats of late 60's through early 80's will ever become popular some day like the muscle cars did.

NOPE...

Look at it from the perspective of who has and loves cars to who's ever even been in a boat? Then add in the fact that boat hulls do not hold up nearly as well (due to the environment they live in) as cars do, and restoration is not nearly as easy. The marine industry as a whole is 20 or so years behind the automotive industry and due to demand there is not the infrastructure to get some of the parts as there is in the automotive industry. The last thing you're looking at is Go Fast boating has always been a Big D*&K contest, the new guys getting into it don't know the history they just want to know their boat is faster than their buddies...

There will always be value in the older boats to those of us that fell in love with that one model when we were kids, or that we raced or whatever. Guys will always want an old Flat Deck Cig or 21' Shadow just like certain cars that aren't worth a dime to anyone else are worth big bucks to some of us because it holds memories..

Will someone in the know please tell me what the difference is between the 20 Cig and the 21 Apache? I know the 1 foot thing but there must be something because there is a certian 21 Apache W/a small block that I keep watching and it just doesn't seem to bring the interest of a 20 Cig, I just don't understand why. Someone has to have an answer.

the 21 apache is wider and longer. If you look at the bottom it looks a lot like an old 21 shadow and a 21 rally sport.

I know a guy that worked for Mastry, then left Mastry for another marine company, that's now coming tomorrow with a long time guy that works for me, to start doing tile work as a helper. It's tough out there in the marine business world.
