RIGGINS, ID - Start your engines. The 39th annual Salmon River Jet Boat Races are set to return this weekend, with races being held Saturday, April 15 and Sunday, April 16.
Things will kick off Friday evening at Riggins City Park with a Boat Show and Shine and BBQ beginning at 4:00 p.m. Food will be served at 6:00 p.m. The Welcome BBQ is sponsored by Riggins Whitewater Market.
Races will then start Saturday morning beginning at 10:00 a.m. MT/9:00 a.m. PT. After a full day of racing, a fireworks show held at City Park will close the night off. The show will start at dusk.
More racing will follow Sunday, once again beginning at 10:00 a.m. MT/9:00 a.m. PT. Following races on Sunday, the Awards Presentation will be held at the Riggins Community Center.
If you are interested in watching, some of the best viewing locations include:
Time Zone Bridge - On the bridge, in the rocks or on the beach. Restrooms available.
Tight Squeeze Rapid - Along the highway north of the Time Zone Bridge. Restrooms available.
Riggins City Park - Grass lawn. Restrooms & picnic tables available.
Short Bar - Mixed grass areas and some beaches. Restrooms available.
Salmon Rapids Lodge Lawn - Grass areas, beach & rocks. Restrooms available.
