Would love to go. Been wanting to go. Made a plan but had to hold it.

Work is number one, but If I can leak out, I will run down. But I don't have a lot of continence that it will happen. Depends.

We've discussed a SO Poker Run. Would an event like the Aronow race be a good place to link with? Many of our members are really into the Old School boats.

The last I heard the '09 run will be down the Keys? Any updates on that?

Hey guys, this years event is going on full force.

Info is coming, The first Official Press Release is done and stacked in file at the City of Sunny Isles who's management staff has been on Holiday.
The event will be held June 11th-14th of 2009 with essentially an identical format of last year, with the date being moved up one week at the request of the City o SIB who of course is the primary sponsor.

Fri the 12th BIMINI Memorial Ocean Race
Sat the 13th “Thunderboat” Poker Run and OSS Race boat testing
Sun the 14th OSS Race Final

The permitting has been done; I have already met with Miami-Dade County and secured Haulover Park for the date. This entire event is being done by a new organization which was created out of necessity. OFFSHORE EVENTS LLC.

A website is done but not yet ready for WWW release. I can e-mail anyone interested the rule book and registration documents if you are interested in racing.

The classes have been changed to reflect who actually signed up and raced last year. Most everything else remains the same.

Happy New Year and look for the Big Bang press release later this week as well as additional big new throughout 2009

The dates on the HORBA site are for open ocean races in 2010.

We chose not to participate with the race promoters in the Sunny Isles to Bimini race this year.

We encourage anyone who wants a taste of open ocean racing to try it.

We wish best of luck to everyone, just want to clarify that this June race has nothing to do with HORBA or affiliated with us or the use of the Don Aronow name in any way.

NO the official timing and scoreing will be the same. Redundant clocks and scorers on the beach. I did look into some other timing devices but cost and logistics are too high and too much. This will just be a cool way to see everyone as well as provide another level of safety.

BTW, If i cant get a seat in another boat (Race Boat) I will be right in front of you all the way over and back in my Top Gun :boxing_smiley:

Thank You, It is a great boat I am very thankful to have been able to get it. As much as I want a big power cat, those boats do so many things so well and while realative to everyhtng in our life, they are way less expensive to run maintain and you get to go recreational boating with ease.

I'll come over and do the driving. We can get Team COTAD out there for a big showing. Rob & Dave, Otis and his (Stecz's) Gladiator, Nick is a short drive away- I bet we can bait him in. Maybe Tommy can be persuaded to leave his 39 down until then. And by then, we may have another member...

We may not win $hit, bit I'll bet we'll have a good shot at being asked to leave the state. :)

I'd be all for that, ya think others up here would want or would it just be 2 boats showing up?

the thing about this race is, its not about the other guy, it's the clock. You don't get all bunched up with other boats around you, they are in your site, but you're running hard like a weekend run, just trying to coax everything you can out of the boat and optimize on the water conditions.
