The 39th annual EQT Pittsburgh Three Rivers Regatta on Aug. 5-7 will boast new attractions like the Gateway Clipper Boat Race and performances by Gin Blossoms, Better Than Ezra, American Authors and Rodney Atkins at the Point or on the North Shore.

Returning favorites will include the Wheel of Lights, Formula 1 powerboat races, which were canceled by bad weather last year, and the ALCOSAN 3 Rivers Proud Boat Parade with a cash prize for the best decorated boat. The weekend will conclude with a special fireworks show dedicated to the late musician Prince.

Since the regatta was traditionally held near the Fourth of July, its organizers will also hold events on that day from noon to 10 p.m.

“Celebrate America” will include a reading of the Declaration of Independence, a flag raising and a flyover by a C-130 from the 911th Airlift Wing. Performances by Gary Racan and the Studio E Band will be followed by the “Flashes of Freedom” fireworks display sponsored by the regatta.
