GEORGE CABANAS SR.
George Cabanas Sr., born Feb. 22, 1943, died peacefully on April 1, 2016, in Key West, at age 73.
He is proceeded in death by his parents, Gabriel and Mercedes Cabanas.
He is survived by his wife, Mary J. Cabanas; his daughter Teri Cabanas and son George Cabanas Jr. (Tonya); grandchildren Gabriella, Ariana, and Giovanni Vargas Cabanas, and Lainey and Reagan Cabanas; his great-grandson Ivan Sanchez Jr.; his best friend since childhood, Donald Lee (Paula); and many loving friends.
Born and raised in Key West, George graduated from Key West High School in 1962. After graduation he and his father co-founded Cabanas Printing. He proudly fulfilled his lifelong dream to own and race a powerboat he named Kracked Conchs.
A memorial mass will be held on Thursday, April 7, 2016, at the Basilica of St. Mary Star of the Sea Church at 3 p.m. All arrangements are entrusted to Castillo & Thurston’s Key West Mortuary and Cremation Center.
