We'll see who's involved and how it shakes out. I think the overall announcement was probably premature.

President John Carbonell comments, “We will be announcing our expanded 2015 Race Schedule after the World Championships this November. Additionally, the Sarasota Suncoast Foundation has chosen not to renew SBI’s contract for 2015; therefore, Super Boat International will not be sanctioning the Suncoast Grand Prix next year.”

This is certainly getting interesting. It's amazing how much difference there is in opinions out there. Especially when you consider the new org hasn't even said anything yet. Reminds me how, after a major election, all of the stuff that is said before the new people are even sworn in to whatever office they ran for.:)

Now the new Marathon race has been switched to the same weekend as the existing Sarasota weekend. The Qatar team has supposedly been officially banned from bringing any of their boats to Key West for the World's. And optimists and pessimists are lining up on both sides of the issue.

Should really get interesting when the entire schedule, rules, sponsors, and affiliations come out from the new organization in press releases and news interviews.

I do hope they are part of the APBA as reported. And I am curious if there will be a complete disbanding of OSS or not.

Rat, I see one possible scenario..

Some deep pockets are probably involved. Big purses, tow money etc probably will be offered to entice racers.Eventually the big pockets will tire. Pied piper scenrio.

I think it would only take three years or so of losing money to make a strong organization that would start to break even or even show a profit after that. Year one would obviously be the toughest. You have to show the race sponsors you can handle the challenge and bring boats. You have to show the race teams you are capable of enforcing the rules and paying the prize money.

Those are the current largest issues with taking offshore to the next level of professionalism versus club sports.

Heck, even skateboarders get prime time television......

Heck, even skateboarders get prime time television......

What just struck me as funny is that redbull sponsors tons of extreme stuff that teens, and twenties drool over, yet that same demograpgic slap monster M's all over everythiing

The word behind the scenes is there are some excellent sponsors behind the new org. As I said, we need to wait and see what they have to put on the table.

The most interesting thing about something like this when a new org is potentially coming on board, how every org out there, new or not, gets slammed by the entire keyboard offshore cowboy entourage.....

They didn't want to because they weren't ready, but they were told the story was going to run with or without a statement from them of any kind. The reporter refused to sit on the release, so a very poorly planned, premature, inaccurate story was released. As in other news venues, ratings are more important than accuracy or the wishes of those whose living depends on the success or outcome of the venture.
