F-1 Prop Tour conducted a demo at Lake Hernando, in Citrus county today in hopes of getting a race there later this year. 4 boats ran several warm up laps then ran 2 5 lap heats .

I'd love to drive one of those sometime. The 45 I drove was quick as could be. Watching the F1's run was incredible.

With a high expectation of Formula 1 racing returning to the state of Florida in 2014, the US Formula 1 Powerboat Tour is set for a day of demo and exhibition runs on Lake Hernando on January 4, 2014. Lake Hernando which is located in Hernando, FL and Citrus County currently plans to hold the 2014 season finale towards the end of September. The Florida based boats of Jose Mendana Jr., Carlos Mendana, Terry Rinker and Steve Lee are scheduled to participate in the exhibition runs. The day's schedule of events will include an open test session for the four teams followed by simulated Match Races and a 10 lap final to conclude the day as the planning stages continue for the 2014 finale. The inaugural event is planning to host the US F1 Championship Weekend for Formula 1 in 2014.

As the US Formula 1 Powerboat Tour continues its efforts in expansion of the schedule and search for new race sites, the State Of Florida became a high priority target for the 2014 season. "After numerous rounds of discussion and continuous searches of a much needed Florida race site, we think Lake Hernando and Citrus County are a perfect match not only for a water based event, but a Formula 1 race" stated Jose Mendana Jr, president of the US Formula 1 Powerboat Tour. "Not only is Lake Hernando a perfect race site for our Tour, we are really thrilled to launch a Formula 1 Championship Weekend program which we plan to turn into annual tradition for many years to come. We are looking forward to our test day to show what Formula 1 racing can and will bring to the county as well as a preview of the up-close action the fans in the area will get to see come next September."

County officials of Citrus County who have been working hard towards next year's event believe a US F1 race will be one of the biggest if not the biggest events of the year for the county. Adam Thomas, Citrus County Sports Event Coordinator stated, "We couldn’t be more excited to have Formula 1 Powerboat Tour here in Citrus County. January 4th will not only showcase the boats, but will display what a first class organization Formula 1 is. It's an honor to crown the 2014 Formula 1 Champion here in Citrus County."
