I just changed the filter and fluid on the van (194,000 miles) tranny is slipping in and out of gear....worse than before. I know that Marine engines with high hours do not like synthetics, what about old transmissions ?

I was once told to never change the fluid in an old auto tranny, it would slip if I did.
Pour some 90 wt gear oil in....:sifone:
Next time doing tile or block work, toss some mortar in there.
That'll stiffen it up!

MAybe you're supposed to use the blue tranny oil for older transmissions to stiffen them up?
