Hey Paul, you get up too early. It was updated to two boats. (Which is much more plausible than three.)

A two-boat accident in waters west of Elliott Key in Biscayne National Park left nine people hospitalized and recovering from their injuries on Monday.
“It was a violent collision,” said Jorge Pino, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission spokesman. “We’re very fortunate no one was killed.”
Ernesto Antonio Calzado was piloting a 36-foot Carrera with 16 passengers when his boat collided Sunday with a 28-foot Wellcraft.
The second boat was operated by Natalie Villa De Rey and had one passenger, Pino said.
Rescuers got a call at 6:37 p.m. about the crash and pulled 11 people out of the water, said Mark Barney, spokesman with the Coast Guard.
The nine victims had injuries ranging from minor cuts to at least one concussion. The passenger with the concussion had to be airlifted, Pino said.
The smaller boat sank to the bottom and was recovered at about 2:30 p.m. Monday, he said.
The damaged Carrera was towed to Black Point Marina in Cutler Bay.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue personnel, FWC officers and Coast Guard rescuers responded to the crash.
Investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the crash, Pino said.

MIAMI -- Nine people have been hospitalized after two boats carrying 18 people collided Sunday afternoon at popular Sand Cut near Elliott Key in Biscayne National Park.

According to Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission spokesman Jorge Pino, it is believed the crash occurred around 6:30 p.m. when a 28-foot Wellcraft carrying two boaters struck a 36-foot Carrera powerboat with 16 people aboard.

"By all accounts it appears it was kind of a t-bone type of collision," he told The Huffington Post, adding that witness were still being interviewed.

Three people are believed to have been seriously injured. Pino said one person was airlifted to hospital and eight were transported by ambulance. Others were treated on scene for minor injuries.

"The Coast Guard brought them in," a witness told WSVN, describing some of the passengers as children. "They were coming in real fast."

According to the Associated Press, the Wellcraft sank after the collision.

“We’re very fortunate no one was killed,” Pino told the Miami Herald. He said investigators would determine whether the Carrerra group was violating laws related to the number of passengers and appropriate safety equipment.
