Earlier this year they put things on hold for about a month or two, then resumed publication.

I quit subscribing to any mags a few years ago.
It's an outdated media. Any news is on the internet within minutes.
I do miss having something to read while doing the morning business. I'm limited to the news app on my phone.
Although I admit, I still have a PB mag T-shirt that is almost ten yrs old, and I still wear it.
I also have two T-shirts that I still wear from th '99 LEOPA Poker Run. They aren't even a year younger than my Daughter...

Yeah, I know it sucks.

Have some good friends there, and have been a subscriber since 1974 I think, (based on my oldest issue).

What really surprised me, when they decided to reopen the magazine earlier this year. They sent out the special two year deal for subscriptions......

I also think Sharkey said he was working on a big shoot for them now.....

Not really to much of a surprise. Print media is dead. Information now travels to fast, print media can not keep up.

Seems like focus should have been, real time e-version, available on the web.

Got an Email yeaterday to renew my suscription, they assume that i don't know about the cancelation. Its the bait and switch trick.

I also think Sharkey said he was working on a big shoot for them now..... They sent one to get a subscription for you, and one for a friend. (Classic subscriber acquisition manuever.)

Some will argue about the value of print media, while common sense would dictate the value of 3 month old news that well is 3 months old. News travels fast via the Internet, and phones , etc. The home page here on Serious is set up to simulate , a front page of a news paper. And it,s free!

"EXTRA! EXTRA! READ ALL ABOUT IT!!"

I was watching the videos of the tragedies in KW this year less than 30 mins after they occurred. There were 4 different angles within 60 mins on youtube. It was very hard to watch, but it was immediately out there. Media is changing.

Yea Magazines are not very good for up to date news, but it was alway nice reading Teague on tec and other tec articles. Between this forum and Matts speed on the water, its pretty easy to keep up on whats going on. Powerboat mag I will miss, And Bonnier can kiss my *****, Boating Mag is not a suitable replaccement!!!

Bonnie has apparently also put the brakes on the publishing of another important mag.
I found out today that the title 'Kiteboarding' is in jeapordy.
These are dark times for coffee tables everywhere

I still miss Larry Flyntt's HOT BOAT:(

Speedwake now too. Cannot even blame that on being outdated PRINT media.

Told the wife Christmas presents are getting repo'd from me this year. I am losing out mags, websites....

Oh well. Bigger and better things. Like this place :)

Performance Boat isn't too bad....

It's the Popular Mechanics of powerboating. And not very timely. Their cover story for their introductory issue was the Cig 46 AMG boat with Merc 1350's- the Miami show boat from almost a year previous. had that boat not been in every publication and website and thoroughly discussed?

Got my last Powerboat issue earlier this week. Just when you think it could't get any thinner, same number of pages, I gues there just thinner and cheeper paper

Well, received my first ever issue of BOATING to replace Powerboat Magazine. What a breath of fresh air 72905.

Boat Tests I got to read;

SeaRay 410 Sundancer
Beneteau GT 34
Nauticstar 203 SC
Stingray 195RX
Chris-Craft Corsair 22
Seaway 18 Sportsman

Outstanding tests everyone. I can't wait to go buy one and take it to a major poker run....

And, my favorite saying in the magazine. Could have come right out of the mouth of our friends Jason Johnson or Bob Teague72905.

#11 in their boat buying important decision making requirements.

"SPEED
Top speed is only for bragging rights. According to the ICOMIA (International Council of MArine Industry Associations), the average boater only runs flat out 6 percent of the time. We spend 40 percent of the time at idle and another 40 percent of the time at cruising speeds. You're actually paying upfront for power you'll rarely need, plus lugging around extra weight that's killing economy-and maybe even your top speed."

:ack2::ack2::ack2:

Don't you just love it? I'm gonna go order a 46 Cig with a 28 pound thrust electric trolling motor. Should be the perfect boat according to BOATING.....

The good news, if everybody did it, no one would brag about top speed. Or would they????
