I bought the new Amazon Kindle Fire for my girlfriend. It came with one month of free Amazon Prime. The free month runs out on the 22nd of this month, so I gave her the Kindle Fire early. It's WiFi only, so you have to be connected to a HotSpot to access the internet.

So far it's a good but cheap alternative to the iPad 2. $200 for the Fire vs $500 to $700 for the WiFi iPad 2. She likes to read books and play games on her iPhone 3GS, so the Kindle Fire was a good match for her.

If anyone is thinking about buying a Kindle Fire, feel free to ask me any questions.

Merry Christmas, y'all! :seeya:

Can you link it to a phone hotspot and use it as a computer/web browser?

Like my Droid Bionic is a WiFi hotspot for up to 5 devices?

Yes, you can connect it to any HotSpot. Even one created by a web-enabled phone.
