Not allowed in our class - the conventional way of solving this issue is thankfully cheaper - a pipe from the surface to the prop that sucks air down and allows the prop to spin up and allow the turbo to boost, once underway it doesn't affect performance either.

In your sketch you measure the longest part of the boat - with a normal angled transom this would be to the top in your example and we would measure to the bottom regardless of the angle as it is designed to measure the running surface.

Here is a photo that appeared on `LuvMyBoat.com showing the winner 8 miles from home really tanking it.
A few yards behind was a 41ft Pantera pushing him to the line, but failed by 8 seconds after 190 miles.
The winner was a 38ft tin hull built in 1983 with an illustrious history of wins including 6 in the Cowes event,The second place boat was a 41ft stepped mono built in 2010.Both boats had petrol engines,the winner 1450hp the runner up 1050hp.One could argue the stepped hull as a like for like should have been faster by 5mph,but had 300hp less,so nearly balanced out competitively.
Crossing the 40 miles of open water in Lyme Bay each boat were so far apart they could not see other until they closed in on Portland Bill,and from then on it was a drag race albeit in fairly lumpy conditions.
Boats with similar power and some recently built. fell by the wayside.

So in this day an age of mickey mouse circuits, we still have true offshore racing where good tactics and navigation,combined with modern machinery,well prepared and reliable,fitted into old hulls can win the day.

I have no issue undoing and adding a copyright on them if you like. They are yours, that's why I make it quite clear "I stole it" so there is no guess work involved. Just trying to get your stuff up there easy to see the entire impact of the boat and photo.

Still building up `Powerboatarchive.co.uk`.Things are getting back to normal after major server problems.All credit to the webmaster John Hedges for sorting it out.
Have added the `Builders Listings`which are continualling being updated with new info.It`s an endless task.More films will be added,but this is no easy ride to do,but we will perserve or rather the webmaster will.He`s the one that deserves the credit for getting them up there.
Meanwhile,a few more Cowes-Torquay pics including B25 the new cougar rib with Steve Curtis on board,but retired about one third distance.The other rib A21 is the old Buzzi rib completely rebuilt,whilst B110 is the old Phantom which raced in the U.S. as `Fury`.

The crew got too beat up to run flat out for the second half of the race. Mike Bontoft said the rib was a rougher ride in the conditions than his 35 foot Cigarette, Dry Martini.

Glad you like the pics on`Powerboatarchive`Ratickle It`s what it`s all about.

Lohring: Good to see you surfacing.Very interesting comments re the Buzzi rib.You can see from the Pippa pic the holes that were out there.As bad as your little sojourn.Makes you wonder if they will use the rib for the Cowes - Montecarlo,with legs of 300nm day after day in open Atlantic rollers off Northern Spain.Doesn`t bear thinking about.

I just talked to Mike this weekend. He looks pretty good considering he got a broken nose when his head hit the dashboard. His shoulder is still pretty sore. Graham, thanks for all the great offshore pictures over the years. I loved last year's race, but I'm way to old to recover from much real offshore racing. I'm sticking to models and my little jet boat.
