Thanks Jim.
I've known this girl since she was ~12/13.
Her Mother and I were basically acquaintances in a group of boaters that all went to the same parties. I always felt guilty that she wasn't having fun, so I always spent time with her - I.e. made her dance with me, or sing Karaoke with me... I have the pictures on my desk. She's 25 now, and her mother and I have now been together for 11 years, and married for 8. I love her as my own.
I'm really happy for her.

I already feel like my kids are getting too big too soon.

Sad to admit, my own daughter is 12. I haven't seen her since she was 10. I'm flying to Toledo to pick her up in a few weeks and bring her out here for a week. It's hard to believe how quickly the years start going by...

Good thing is, I'll get to see my new grandchild Sophia, and also spend some time with my folks. Any of you Toledo/Detroit buds, please don't feel offended that I'm not gonna have time to stop by or meet up. This trip is all about family, and getting my daughter out here so she can experience the desert for the first time. This trip is all about her. I can only afford to take a little time off work - and quite honestly it's going to be really painful the mess I'll need to clean up when I get back to the office.

Unfortunately, no.
I've had a bit of a medical issue that has kept me grounded.

Thanks for the congrats guys! I'm really looking forward to getting my strength back and making the trip.

Congrats on the Grand daughter! I've always felt that grandchildren are God's reward for not killing your kids! Enjoy them before they are teenagers and know everything!
