View Full Version : 36 ft v hull what is it ??
i found this mold and just wanted to see what u guys think or know about it
looks good to me if it will sell
Might be one of Steve Stepps Velocity's
The deck has a Nordic boat vibe, but no steps/vents in the hull?/

yea it does seem kinda old school i could add vents with just doing inserts in the mold so i could lay it up with and or with out vents/steps
i dont have a sales team or anything to promote it i wonder if its worth messing with or not

Maybe nordic flow, but it doesn't have the built in platform or windshield like the nordic.
That mold is a flat transom. Personally, I like it. If you can get it cheap and have the room to store it, why not.
what do you guys think this hull would be worth with mercs new 8.2 ho motors and drives

1st pic looks like a completed hull, any HIN#? Is the blue pic a plug?

First pic looks like the old Aronow 34. I believe it then became a Magic.
im not sure about that other one being the plug or the other completed boat i got the pictures from the guy selling the mold
but looking at a complete boat there with graphics had to be at least 275,000
and a build cost of close to 75 % seems like a lot of investment for a small return if you can even sell it

If you had a better shot of the front that would help, Like T2X it does look like a older Velocity. But it also could be a West Coast plug. The front of an east coats boat comes to a point and a west coast boat are flat or rounded.
the owner of this mold said it was designed by a guy from the west coast and apparently they build a boat without his knowledge so he repossessed the molds and now is selling them

A Velocity would have a larger pad. On his big boat it was nearly 18" wide.
They looked completely different to me. These aren't the greatest but they are enough to show they are not the same.

Not a Velocity....just another "popped" boat, most likely from a west coast manufacturer. It's not all that easy to build and manufacture a boat. If you don't have the cash to do it properly (design and build your own plug) then stay away from the biz...

i agree why go to all the trouble then you dont know what boat it is or how good it will are wont run thats a big investment for a shot in the dark
but it could be improved apon and made to run just like any boat you got to feed it what it wants to make it dance
but as it is old school and all we know it should be good in the rough water

all we know it should be good in the rough water
Should be is assuming... I assume something different.. It is sitting idle for a reason..

correct its an assumption on the whole thing without having data from the first boat out
I can't imagine building a non-vented boat in todays day and age. The value of a no-name flat bottom boat is peanuts IMO.

i have to agree
so what range could we conclude its projected value to be ??
I dont follow new prices at all (I'll never buy a new boat), but my guess is it would be a tough sell at even the price of the components it took to build it, w/o the cost of the hull! I can't imagine it being worth your time to build it. If it had steps, you might be okay though... still no real money maker though.
Just my opinion.

68182I don't think this boat has a pad at all, this looks like water laying in the bottom of the mold to me.

Good point. It could be.
I have seen a few boats that created pads by simply plugging the mold.. I know of no examples where this worked well.

To answer your question on value for the boat. Maybe $130,000 to $150,000
Yes you could use inserts to make the steps. I'd try it just like it is first, nothing wrong with a classic deep V.

Which deck mold do you get?
The modern looking one?
http://www.seriousoffshore.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=68105&d=1292342644
Or the old school looking one?

I'd want to see pictures of the deck mold, not just parts from them.
I like that first deck, and the hull looks great and at the very least would make a bitchen center console.

Powerplay??? Maybe?
At least the hull. Definatly shows some resemblence in the hull, not the deck.

the owner of this mold said it was designed by a guy from the west coast and apparently they build a boat without his knowledge so he repossessed the molds and now is selling them Scott who was the designer and was the design influenced by any one Boat Co that he might have done any previous work for ? Scott there has to be some sort of history behind these molds .
