Blue seems to be the color of the week. It's a good thing I put serial numbers on every engine. I'm having trouble telling them apart without looking at the numbers.:sifone:

NIce, whats the #'s on the blower motors ??? Hp, tourqe and so on ?

YoungPerformance

The ones with the polished blowers are my 925 efi's. They are 598 ci. and will make just over 1000 hp and about 1080 ft lbs torque. The last one I did made 1028 hp (5700 rpm) and 1085 ft lbs.(4200 rpm)

The ones without the blowers are getting 3.3L Whipples. They are 565 ci and we are shooting for 1000 hp. They should make about 1050 ft lbs.

The one NA engine is a 547 ci. It made 688hp and 665 ft lbs. It has some small heads on it that really hurt the power and torque. The customer already had them, so we stuck with them. They are Dart Pro 1 310's.

Roughly how much difference would a set of AFR 325s have made?

A check could possibly jog my memory.:sifone: It would have to be a pretty big one to get all 5.

I would think it would put it well over 700 hp. I did a very similar setup to this one recently with 335 cnc afr's. It was 540 ci, but the compression was much lower than this one. It was only about 9.2. It made just over 700 hp. I would think this one with a few more inches (mainly a bigger bore to unshroud the valves), more cam, and the larger, better flowing heads would be near 725 hp.

It's funny. I will get runs on certain colors. I almost always do the same color on multiple engines at once. Usually, I will be in the process of doing an engine for one customer and another will see it and say ....hey I like that color, paint mine just like it. Next thing you know, I have 5 of them the same color.
It always comes in spurts.:sifone:

:iagree:
i see it to with the boats even ill get a run on a spacific brand name the same way and a lot of times they will all be the same size to
but as far as the blue goes we rented a shop two units down from blue thunder (back in the day ) so every motor was blue no one got to pick

I've got plenty enough IOU's already:sifone:
But you can still bring the boat. I'm sure I can find something around here to put in it.

I like the silver and purple combo as well. That looks sharp.

Thanks everyone.

nice stuff!! do two of the exact same motors every make different hp? what is an acceptable range for the difference? just curious!

YoungPerformance
05-26-2010, 02:01 PM
I like to see them within 10 hp or so of each other. I do sometimes get them almost exact and they only vary by 1 or 2 hp. No 2 engines are always exact. With the efi, they always take a little different cal. in the ecm to get them just right. After the first one is tuned, I will put that cal in the second one. It will almost always take a little tweaking to get it perfect.
