Residents of the United States and Puerto Rico may participate in a class action settlement over the false advertisement of horsepower for some lawnmowers.
Mowers purchased from 1994 to April 12, 2010 with engines capable of up to 30 horsepower are eligible for some cash back and potentially an extended warranty.
Owners may receive up to $35 for walk-behind mowers and up to $75 for riding mowers.
Manufacturers in Lawnmower Class Action Settlement
The lawsuit was filed in Wisconsin against Sears and many lawnmower manufacturers, alleging that the company sold mowers with claims of higher horsepower (http://www.mcall.com/news/breaking/all-lawnmower-settlement-040810-cn,0,6622827.story) than they actually produced.

Tecumseh
Toro

Also included are the following brands: Bolens, Brute, Craftsman, Cub Cadet, Exmark, Lawn-Boy, Murray, Poulan, Poulan PRO, Sabre, Scotts, Simplicity, Snapper, Troy Bilt, Weed Eater, White Outdoor, Yard Machines and Yard-Man.
Fine Print of Lawnmower Class Action Settlement
Mowers are only eligible (http://www.lawyersandsettlements.com/settlements/14466/lawnmower-class-action.html) if they were purchased for home use and owners must provide identification numbers printed on the mower and the engine.
Owners have until the end of August to file a claim on the Lawnmower Class Action Settlement (https://lawnmowerclass.com/) website. A final approval hearing of the settlement is set for June 22, and upon its approval, owners have 1 year to redeem warranty benefits.

Damn, now THIS is a wild coicidence. I was just over a Pfaff's yesterday dynoing my lawn mower and was sorely disappointed that it was only making 1.3hp instead of the advertised 1.5hp. I ended up spending $22k to get a new carb, bump the compression, get a custom ground cam from RMBuilder, CMI exhast, new crank and piston. Maybe I can recover. Anyhow, I'm going to have to run it on 110 octane now. Looking to get something over 3.7hp out of it. I'll show my cocky-ass neigbor and his fancy Cub Cadet!

Just received a notice today inviting me to join a class action suit against at&t for providing dsl serice that was slower than their advertised rates.

I could get between $2 and $2.90 a month for each month that their service was slow. If they include adsl I should be in for about fifteen years worth.
