I put our 16 Donzi up for sale on craigs list and i am getting all kinds of scam responces

I got a request for more info and i got this resoponce

Thanks for the prompt response.. I am ready to buy it now for birthday gift for my brother and i am at sea at the moment as i am a marine engineer and due to the nature of my work, phone calls making and visiting of website are restricted but i squeezed out time to check this advert and send you an email regarding it. I really want it to be a surprise for my brother so i wont let him know anything about it until it gets delivered to him, i am sure he will be more than happy with it. I insisted on PayPal because i don't have access to my bank account online as i don't have internet banking, but i can pay from my PayPal, as i have my bank a/c attached to it, i will need you to give me your PayPal email address and the price so i can make the payments asap for it and please if you don't have PayPal account yet, it is very easy to set up, go to www.PayPal.com. and get it set up, after you have set it up i will only need the e-mail address you use for registration with PayPal so as to put the money through. I have a pick up agent that will come and pick it up after i have made the payments...

Thanks

I realize this is a scam but what are they trying to accomplish here ??

I am also getting these notification (again a scam i belive)

They just want your email address.

Exactly. I get responses to adds simply asking. "is the boat still available."

I do not respond to anything that doesnt sound legit. I don't understand how they go ad after ad making responses hoping to get replies and email addresses.

I had a couple vehicles and some JUNK listed last week. I cannot believe the MASSES of BS I got from them. Not just blatant scams, but..a bunch of "check out this deal", is this other ad like yours. I guess I just do not get what is to be gained by getting my email. A bunch want you to sign in to your CL account. Still what can be done with my CL info??? Really going to gain some big $$$$ by running a BS ad under my sign in, or what?

Next time just don't let CL show an email address. Either list your phone number only or put the email address down in your description, written out without hypertext link.

The scam at the top is to put money into a paypal account just long enough for you to believe you have it...The truck will arrive and off with the boat. When you try to get the money from paypal it will list insufficient funds. Then it's your issue to recover your stolen boat.
The second one is probably IP phishing...looking for you to click the above link which could provide them with an internet address for your computer. Hackers love that stuff they can then use your IP to perform all kinds of bad stuff.
Suggest getting a 'throwaway email' (one you don't ever plan on using)account for your Craigs list or just not using Craigs List; it can work but not usually worth the pain.

Not a computer guy so all the tech junkies layoff me with the exact terminologies etc just a simple layman :iamwithstupid:
