Jayboat Broke His Lense and WE are Going to Replace It For Him [Archive]

Jayboat is always taking great photos for all of us at our boating events. We all enjoy his work. Jay gets paid very little for this, often nothing.

He broke an expensive lense while shooting at a poker run this weekend. We have been enjoing his photos from the event on SOS already. I think we should chip in and replace it for him. It is a $900 touch.

First $100 is from Victoria and I. If we collect more than $900, Jay can buy more equipment or whatever else he wants because he deserves it! Let's not take his contributions for granted.

Who else is up to helping Jay out?

This thread shows the true colors of SOS. And I am not talking about the simple act of just getting Jay a new lense.

The fact is that though Jay has some political views that a lot disagree with, we here see beyond that and value him as a member and a person. While many don't agree with his politics they still respect him and are some of the first to offer help. The fact that opinions on various things can differ, yet it's just opinions and not a vendetta on the person it what truely seperates us from the rest. I may not be in the position to throw $100 bucks in Jay's direction right now, but I know I will see him sometime over the summer and will buy him a drink.

I have tryed on about 10 of them with no luck . I did pick up a 70-300 vr for $350 2 weeks ago . it's a nice lens but it is not as fast as the 2.8. Also got a 11-16 2.8 Tokina and i love it for close up stuff.

Funny thing is Chris will probably leave Jay's section up just to show that he isn't a spiteful guy. The thread has turned a bit more personal at the other site (and it shouldn't have in my opinion).
