I recently got a 64gb iPod Touch. I love everything about it except, it doesn't have built-in GPS.

However, Dual has announced that they will soon be selling a GPS Cradle for the iPod Touch (http://gpscradle.dualav.com/index.html) for $180.

You have to download a free Navigation App (http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/navatlas-u-s-canada/id345119799?mt=8)

I may have to get one! :D

The iPod Touch has everything the iPhone has except 1) a phone, 2) a camera, and 3) a GPS chip.

Many of the iPhone/iPod Touch apps use GPS. This $180 device gives the iPod Touch a portable GPS.

Should have gotten a Droid. :D Look for an app called GeoBeagle. Geocachers use that app for caching. It works on the Istuff I believe.

I have both a car and a boat Nav program in my iPhone and they work flawlessly. It is not a huge chart plotter but it will get you there, and the boat one uses Navionics charts which are great. And lots of other stuff uses your position to give you info on restaurants, movies, stuff like that. It is a shame you didn't get the iPhone since it is only about as much as that GPS dealy.

I already have a phone. I don't want to swap it for another phone.

I want an iPod with GPS and not have to pay a monthly fee to a call phone company.

I want to play music with my iPod on my boat. I want to play my iTunes music, XM Radio, and Pandora all through my iPod.

If I tried to do all of this with an iPhone, then the music would stop playing everytime the phone rang. I can't do that.

So, I need a separate phone and iPod.

Yes. I bought a $30 program that turns my Windows baised phone into a Mobile Hotspot (http://www.wmwifirouter.com/).

I have AT&T, so I can talk and text on the phone and run the hotspot at the same time. :D

As long as I have a phone tower signal, I have internet. It works great!

But, I need to be able to use my phone at the lake. Using an iPhone for both a phone and an iPod won't work for me.
