Newspaper says America is about to retake the America's Cup trophy with one more victory. So I did a Google search. Apparently, the design rules were basically eliminated, except the boat must have 90 feet on the water line.

I visit www.americascup.com (http://www.americascup.com) and DAMN! You have to the see the boat we are racing. It's a friggin' Ferrari compared to Alinghi's Corvette. It basically flies.

Not sure if the final race is televised, but it might be streaming online. Would be nice to see unbridled American technology slap the world around again.

Race 2, which could seal America's vistory, is scheduled for tomorrow, Sunday. Not sure what channel it is on, but the website says they will stream live.

Saw the feed of race 1. US boat is very impressive, 3-4 kts over Alingi most of the course. Big step up from when we did the wing-sail for Freedom's Wing (Little Americas Cup boat) 19 years ago.

It will be nice to bring the cup home. And San Francisco would be an exciting place to see the cup series......

We're gonna win today. Race started. America has a far superior beast. Teh Swiss said they will be lucky to have a beer with the Americans after the race.

I'm watching the live feed. I wish the Offshore Powerboating circuits could give the kind of live coverage afforded these two boat. The level of sponsorship money is unreal.

Everyone should check this out, just to get an idea of what can be done for our sport.

It just dawned on me, this America's Cup race is like watching the USS Enterprise against a Klingon spaceship, they don't even look like sailboats.

The American boat (BMW Oracle) doesn't even have a canvas/mylar sail. It's a hinged metal wing twice the size of a 747 wing. this it truly Tyson vs. Glass Joe.

Just the telemetry they are feeding is far superior to NASCAR, although NASCAR does feed a crazy amount of data.

Wind speed is about 5 knots, boats are running 15-19 knots.

You can view the medium feed without any downloads, only the high quality feed requires downloads.

Nothing fun about racing while laying on your stomachs.

However, these blow boats are moving faster than all of our boats today. :)

America is hitting 30 knots downwind. Alinghi is about 26 knots. All in 8 knots of wind.

Amazing boats. Wonder what they would do in 8 to 10's and 45 knot winds??????

Was wondering the same thing. so little drag, they'd probably fly off waves like wind surfers. Some of these helicopter angles are crazy. The Swiss are just watchinjg in awe asa the American boat flies. The Swiss conceded, "The Wing is King."

The mods "will" delete all knowledge of everyone watching the race afterwards, right?

Looks like the fat lady is singing for Alingi. I hope they stay with the ultra-tech boats for the next challange as they make for a much better race than the monos. I'm really impressed with how smooth they ran, no pitching at all.

Well Done BMW/Oracle

That's crazy. It's basically high speed, planed off Hobie Cat racing.

Used to run Hobies when I lived out in Portland. Had a 14 with a 16 mast and both sails. Crazy killer sailboat by yourself. (Don't tell anyone though).....

Alinghi cross the finish line 5 minutes and 26 seconds after USA. The Swiss team were 24 seconds behind off the start line, 28 seconds behind at WW 1 mark, 2mins 44 secs behind at the gybe mark, Mark 2.

Confirmed then, no protest, so BMW ORACLE Racing win the 33rd America's Cup match for the USA. A fantastic finale to this historic match.

Exactly. THAT is inoovation. Not adding another step to the 4 you have or painting a car company name on the side of a 12 year old design. I bet they could make some amazing advances

That's what was so exciting aboutthis race. The hulls were such revolutionary design.
