I've been on the 42' Legacy (glass) with a pair of 1050's and thought it was a great ride....

How does it compare to the 42' Legacy, epoxy with a pair of 1075's. I've heard some good/bad... An honest assessment (not sure if that's possible on the internet:eek:) would be greatly appreiacted.

Also, how does it compare to some of the other stand-up pleasure models like the 46' etc.?

Trying to get some info for a friend, your thoughts or recommendations are greatly appreciated!:driving:

The 42 epoxy with 1075's runs roughly the same speed as the 46 with 1075's (120-125). The bottom of the 42 has been over 150 as a gtx, but no other bottom changes. The 46 is better in Big Big water, but the 42 is no slouch in the big water. The 42 runs very stable at high speed, and a a solid performer. The 42 epoxy will have the smae feel (stifness wise) as the 46 as the laminate is very similar.

What are the pro's/con's of the Vinylester Legacy's vs the Epoxy Legacy's?

Another question... What are the handling characteristics (pros/cons) of the 42' vs. the 46'.

Agree with Fred. I have been in 4 42's(glass, epoxy, twin, triple). You can feel the difference between the glass and epoxy boats. The epoxy boats run just as good as the glass boats. It is just a different feel to get used to. The epoxy boats run right though all you can throw at it. As all OL's they handle the speed amazing. I personally would prefer go for the epoxy boat for the speed and its the newer technology but it also comes at a price. You cant go wrong with any Outerlimits since they all perform very well.

poly/vinyl ester resins vs. epoxy resins shouldn't make a differance other than weight. they're both just mediums that bind the glass together. generally epoxy is vacume bagged which will control weight more so than a conventual hand laid lay up
