nice! You have one of the original flatdecks, with the real cutdown deck! Looks nice. I guy named "Wag" used to own that boat at one point I think..... Did Terry own it before him then? Maybe Mr.Salesmanship can chime in here :sifone:

It is Terrys old boat then was sold in 98 to my friend G. Miller in Burlington Iowa. 97 model, no steps, not really much of anything except for being a monster and slapping waves down like little B#tches..:sifone: This is the one that is getting some interior updates, and some more help in the engine bay. When i get over to the shed next time i ll take pix of the progress.

Just 500/525's. A lot is in how you drive it. You can blow 6's if you aren't careful to......:driving: Probably not with 525's, but, still, as John Tomlinson said, a good throttleman can make a set of drives last awhile.

I brought it down here about a month ago when i sold my SC. I had to take my old one to the factory for the new owner to meet me. I went out drinking with Miller while i was up there and brought this one home. Didnt intend on it but thats what happened. I had two. The blue one had the 454 Mags and topped out about 70. The second one was red with the fairing and no windshield. It had 502's and was a couple MPH faster.
They were pretty fast for their day (early 90's) and handled ok.
The best thing about them was a lot of cockpit seating for a 32.

Weren't there a couple 32's though with tweaked bottoms and bigger power that ran close to 100mph? If my young (limited) memory serves me right, there was a burgundy one with big power (big power for its day at least).

I'll see if I can find the mag where our 32' was tested, I think it was maybe hotboat, but they quoted the handling on ours as "Schizophrenic" :driving: My dad decided to leave the stock motors in it after that.

Weren't there a couple 32's though with tweaked bottoms and bigger power that ran close to 100mph? If my young (limited) memory serves me right, there was a burgundy one with big power (big power for its day at least).

I don't remember your Dad's boat being tested. It was Powerboat that tested the 32 w/ 502's in '92. They thought it was overpowered and they gave BT the chance to correct it and bring it to another test before they printed the article.
When it was time for the test they had a boat that looked exactly the same. Don was big on red and white back then. This boat had 454 mags in it.
PBM thought it was the same boat just repowered. For whatever reason that boat handled better and they assumed it was because of less horsepower.
But when the article came out they said the first boat was Schizophrenic.
Well that about put an end to selling any more of the 32's from that point. We didn't do anymore tests with the 32 as that was about the time the flat deck 43 came out.
Dave Brown had those "big" HP 450's in the burgundy but it ran in the low 80's. The B class race boat also ran in the low 80's. I don't know of anybody running any more power or speed than that.
The photo of the all white 43 flat deck on the sandbar was taken at the Hotboat Trials near Ft. Myers Beach, probably '93. That was 43 # 2. A friend of mine and I trucked it all the way from MO. Seemed like a pretty remote place at the time. Now I pass by that same sandbar every time I go boating.

With the size of the women you post in the UC :ack2: along with the shop-vac chicks, you better stick with the 46 cabin to fit them in! :sifone:

In all seriousness, I bet if you asked Bob to build you a 32' right now, he would have no problem pulling the molds out to do so (assuming they still have the molds). 2 or 3 yrs ago, a customer wanted a straighthull 43 tall deck, and BT built it for them!

Haha, if the drives are setup right, they should be able to take. Just for the shootout though won't (shouldn't lol) be too bad...... You get a 30mph running start at at captain rons so you don't have to do a hole-shot.

Well guys, Its my Bday and unfortunatley i am unable to pick up my new toy due to the other BT not being finished yet. I m afraid that once the new one arrives, the flatdeck will go on the back burner... TxHawk and I do plan to spend Saturday and Sunday working on his boat and hopefully getting the flatdeck closer to being done. I ll get pix and try to get them uploaded as we move forward. At this point I have to paint the bilge, install the engines, drives, rewire the dash, install the new guages/panels, and other misc. stuff. As soon as this project is done, I ll go get the new ride:sifone:

Dart block
callies crank
carillo rods
cp pistons
canfield heads
Blower shop 8-71s
fuel injected as you know

715hp/722hp dyno at 4lbs of boost with 2 stbd and 4.5 port hrs on each motor

Dads buddy owns part of the MasterCam top fueler and is the head/blower/ignition guy on the team. He says he may have a pair of bigger/shiny/spinny/whistly thingys for my engines. One thing about it though, i told him no alcohol or nitro methane for my engines

Couple pounds and your old intercoolers and i see more ponys coming on. How bad would trannys in boxes throw off CG. Just something im considering besides the "other" mods. Matt and i discussed the hull mods and he believes we can handle it.

14-71's or 16-71's? Also, if you run alky, no need for an intercooler! All of that fuel will give you a nice cool intake charge :sifone: Nitrous will help cool the charge as well...... I agree about the no nitro part though :iamwithstupid:

I think with 8-71's and coolers you could get 900hp safely on 93. Also, if you are going to add trannies in boxes, I think you would want to fill in the notch. There are a couple other things you could do as well. The 460 gets a little flighty in the nose past 90 or so (there is a fix for that). I'm assuming you are talking about putting a trannie in a box and running 3a/5 drive? I think you would be better off though moving the motors forward and running them without boxes and leaving the notch, or even possibly filling it in without boxes. Also, with the new M8 merc drive, I wonder if there will be alot of used 6's cheap on the market.....

Pix are in your email. I was hoping the dry sump 6 drive would start to get reasonable since the 8 came out. Nothing more than 93 for me as of now, the 4 wheeler burns 110 and Dads plane burns 100LL. Its amazing how good stuff burns off low lead fuel.....:sifone: Bob says ASD bravos are the way to go but he has no experience on it he claims. NO notch fill but i see otherwise due to the height. 500HP I love Black Thunders,,,,man what a boat...
I just boufght a new color GPS, someone suggested that I could take out the refrig and crawl up under, I really don't want to do...anyone know if I can get to the back of the old one by just litting the dash plate?

Yank the fridge is the only way I think. I have mine out now. A lot of room back there......:sifone:

Yep, just yank the dash screws, tip the top towards you and lift up and brace, lots of room to get there.

That PSI looks nice,.... the top pulley is too big though. That can be fixed. Save it for the tri-toon! We only need 11 more, we are using 14 nitro motors right? :D

So, we were idling out of the marina to join the fleet, Miller looks at the temps as they are just warming up and says "OK, lets go" then firewalls that bitch. Matts facial expression was hilarious, he didnt know what to think. He says, "Miller you have some of last years gas still in the tanks" , and he gets the reply that "Wow, this thing runs alot better than before" and we just keep going....:sifone: Had to be there

It lowers the CG of the boat thus improving handling and stability at all speeds but improving with the faster you go.

For the record, there has been NO staggering of my engines, not any room to do so, just some friendly jesting between me and Jason. My avatar is a pic of his motors as his the other day was of me driving the boat.....:sifone:
