"The Nebraska compromise, which permanently exempts Nebraska from paying Medicaid costs that Texas and all other 49 states must pay, may violate the United States Constitution — as well as other provisions of federal law," Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott said.

Some of you may remember the name Ben Nelson as the lone Democrat in the US Senate to be against the Health Care bill.

The last Democratic holdout in the Senate against healthcare reform, Sen. Ben Nelson (D) of Nebraska, said Saturday that he is now prepared to vote for the bill.

The breakthrough occurred after hours of meetings yesterday between Nelson and Senate majority leader Harry Reid. The main sticking point was abortion. Nelson wanted to ensure that no federal funds were used to pay for abortions. Details of the deal between Senator Reid and Nelson are not yet available, but Reid did release the text of the 2,074-page bill Saturday in order to try to meet a self-imposed Christmas deadline for passing it.

Well, it turns out that he just wanted a "sweetheart deal".

Though Nelson has now thrown his support behind the Senate bill, he acknowledged that he would withdraw his support if meetings between the House and Senate change any of the provisions for which he negotiated.

In other words, he wants to keep his "sweetheart deal" in place. :(

In a letter to McMaster, Graham singled out the deal to win Nebraska Sen. Ben Nelson's vote on the massive health care bill the Senate is expected to adopt Thursday. Nelson held out as fellow Democrats worked to get 60 votes to foreclose a GOP filibuster and the bill was amended to shield Nebraska from the expected $45 million annual cost tied to expanding Medicaid programs.

"We have serious concerns about the constitutionality of this Nebraska compromise as it results in special treatment for only one state in the nation at the expense of the other 49," Graham and DeMint wrote.

It looks like Democrats have their 60 votes for healthcare. Harry Reid said the bill will save us hundreds of millions of dollars. Well, it would have, except for the hundreds of millions of dollars we had to pay to buy the 60 votes...Jay Leno.

The list for our no lobbiest, no earmark President:

Sen. Mary Landrieu’s (D-LA) “Louisiana Purchase.”

Sen. Ben Nelson’s (D-NE) $100 Million “Cornhusker Kickback.”

Sens. Ben Nelson (D-NE) & Carl Levin’s (D-MI) Sweetheart Deal for Nebraska/Michigan Insurance Companies.

Sen. Chris Dodd (D-CT) Takes Credit for $100 Million Hospital Earmark.

Sen. Roland Burris (D-IL) Inserts Provision for ACORN Funding.

Sens. Patrick Leahy (D-VT) Secures $600 Million Medicaid Kickback.

Sen. Bernie Sanders (D-VT) Scores $10 Billion for Community Health Centers.

Sen. Bill Nelson (D-FL) Negotiates Special Deal for Florida Medicare Advantage Recipients.

Sen. Max Baucus (D-MT) Scores Extra Medicare Benefits for Montana Residents.

Sen. Tom Harkin (D-IA) Wins More Medicare Funding for Iowa Hospitals.

Sens. Byron Dorgan (D-ND) & Kent Conrad (D-ND) Win Higher Medicare Payments for Rural Hospitals .

The healthcare reform bill now includes a tanning booth tax of 10 percent. You know what this means? This whole thing could be funded by the cast of “Jersey Shore.”

I would say I'm 100% against funding abortions but then again it costs us a lot more for them to keep breeding than not. How about paying them to get their tubes tied and they have to pay the money back if they ever wanted to reverse the operation. They meaning people that shouldn't breed; not to include or exclude any race, color or creed..

It's getting worse by the minute...now we have the "Merkley amendment" that will require all construction related employers to provide full healthcare benifits to all their employees if they have more than five (5) of them or pay $750.00 per employee. It was just added by some simpleton Senator from Oregon at the behest of the Unions... This is a change of the small business fifty (50) employee requriement and will be the death of many small companies who will not be able to afford this burden...

http://djcoregon.com/news/2009/12/22/contractors-singled-out-in-merkley-amendment/

Just check out the link and download the Bill, it's on page 76. As bad as the sweetheart deals for individual Senators and Congress people these amendments are much worse in my opinion they single out a industry that is on the ropes at the moment with additional costs.

There are many laws which violate the Constitution, hasn't stopped them yet.....

750 bucks per employee per year is cheaper then the health insurance I now provide them paid in full by me.. My insurance payments per year would put a NICE 38ZR behind my truck... :driving:

And a bunch of them voted for bo.. :willy_nilly:

Hmm, what to do, what to do... :sifone:
