Our friend Jay is offering up a Christmas gift in the same spirit as Powerboat and FF Jeff. What a great team of supporters this place has!!!!!

JAYS GIFT

We have seen the recent post of Jay's 50 Favorite Pics of 2009.

So here is his offering

1 LARGE 24 X 36 POSTER WITH ALL 50 PICS

1 16 X 24 PIC of the winners favorite pic from the 50

The contest will be a little different than past events.

This will be a test of how well the members know this forum.

I am going to ask you 5 questions over the next 2 days. The answers to these questions will ALWAYS BE A NUMBER.

Save your answers as I ask you questions, cuz you are going to do something with them when we are finished.

I'll ask you all 5 questions starting Tuesday am and finishing by Wed evening.

The first person to post the correct answer AFTER 7PM Thursday will be deemed the winner.

Here is a SAMPLEquestion so you know what to expect.

One of our good and kind members recently participated in a walkathon to support a charity. How many participants are missing from the pic of the event????

I'll start the official questions tomorrow morning.

Thank you so much Jay for thinking of our members at Christmas.

Kudos to all that have said Merry Christmas to SOS this way.

Fractions can be expressed as decimal numbers. Like 33% can be .333333333333

I'm coming up with a decimal number but am positive my numbers are correct; even have the post links where I gathered my data.

The J/K was I was joking about sitting this one out..

No, really- my Mother was to be here tonight for Christmas Eve, however she is snowed in with more bad weather on the way. We are doing Christmas breakfast over the wife-to-bes parents and then having people over our house for Christmas dinner. All that means once she canceled, we were free tonight but couldn't drive the 2+ hours to go see her due to our other commitments. I didn't think I could play but since all that happened, I'm a winner once again!

A lot of the questions I knew I read about before. When I read the forums, I read every title that interests me and any thread that "gets legs" - like has a lot of post quickly or is on page 2-3 within 2-3 days. I may skip over some thing one time when I log on, then it grows to 2 pages so I'll check it out. Some times the title doesn't mean that is what is about; hijacking happens!

1- simple. Searched "desert warrior" and display posts vs thread and scanned 2-3 posts before I found one with a picture in it. Less than 5 minutes to get the answer.

2- I knew it was Phragle with the floppy hat and knew it was ChiefApache's boat so searched post by them. Found a post from CheifApache saying it was "DavidMc's" kid and she thought he was 8 or 9 so then I searched posts by "DavidMc" and the keyword being "son" or "years old" (forget which one I used). Again, had search results display post vs thread. Took about a 1/2 hour. Tricky question!

3- hardest since older post and putting numbers in the search field says the search criteria is too short. This one took some time- 30 minutes I guess. "Competitor" made me look for post from MobileMercMan, Ryan, etc. Brownie, T2x, etc are Icons so that wiped them out of the search. I think I searched using "foam" or "white caps" by authoer. Would say it was more luck that I found this one- found a good story and kept reading and there it was. Tough question!

4- simple. I knew the boat so searched threads started by "Copeland Phenomenon" and there it was. Checked another post by him to verify the beam. Less than 5 minutes to find the answer

5- searched "Peanuts", displayed threads and saw the same thread listed most frequent so read the whole thing to hear the history. Less than 5 minutes to find the answer

6- add them all together and MULTIPLY instead of divide and came up with the answer. I knew Bobs boat had trip 485 Yanmars so had to have 3 drives.

GREAT CONTEST!!!
