It was truly an event back then. All about the racing.
Who was in the "Team Skater" boat? Was it Ed Colyer?
Who throttled for Chris Lavin?
Ryan Beckley
10-14-2009, 02:12 PM
Team Skater was Ed Coyler.
Jesse James was throttled by Joey Imprescia....

I wish I would have gotten a chance t take a pic of the engines in that Lambo Scarab.
One of the many humbling things about Key West is when you break down you must return past the spectators.

Yes it is a Conquest so was The Captian America. The What A Package has been sited in Michigan over the last few years, now black and pink.....Doubles Pizza...

Thanks Ryan. That was sort of what I remembered. I really liked the Conquests and put a lot of thought into bringing Captain America back to California, but I was told by the lady that owns half my stuff that I'd have to live under the tunnel if I did. I really dig the boats though. Good history and very nice looking.

Did Wildcat win that year?

Here is our Image cat the M-17 MAGIC, sister cat to the M-7 BAJA Bandit at the 1987 Key West Worlds. We built most every thing on her even our own headers. I believe back then the Merc modified engines made around 510 hp, our in house Magic, Diamond farm engines made about 550 hp, big numbers back then.:sifone: The speed #III were the weak point as we broke a prop shaft in race #3.:ack2: But that was not as bad as 1986 worlds, we sank her that year out by Sand Key.:willy_nilly::willy_nilly:

Doubles Pizza is now a flower pot. The last time the Baker Boy's tried to race her it was some time around 2001 at the St Clair race. As the Referee I would not let her run. The boat was unsafe...:ack2:

Mark & Tim Baker from Port Huron Mi raced the Doubles Pizza Conquest cat. As I stated in post #40 she was in really ruff shape the last time I saw her.

If you look at the class and distance. Stock A and B were Cats and V's with twin stock 200's.
They ran a distance slightly longer then the Catalina record run a few days ago
