Great looking boat! Why not just trailer it on it's own trailer to it's destination??

some owners are worried about chipping the paint on the trailer.

I think the trailer issue could be insurance as well. I had my boat transported from FL to MD but made them use their trailer as I hadn't taken delivery of the boat yet. Thought it would suck to make an insurance claim on a boat that was not mine yet but on my trailer.

Anyway- sweet ride and congrats to the new owner!!!

Planning on paint? I'd go with a simple classic racing stripe if it were mine.

It actually costs less to load a trailer onto a flatbed than it does to have one pulled by a guy with a dually. The only barrier is loading.

Chris I agree to some extent but behind on its own trailer a v bottom OL is about 9.2 wide and you can pretty much go anywhere without an oversize permit, On the big truck its hard to get through the scales without taking a chance on them using a tape measure on it

Nah- it's me. Sorry if came across wrong- matter of factly answering the question vs really reading it- 1/2 a sleep at work...

Found a new wine I liked so I tried it out every night since last Friday just to get a 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th opinion. Yep- still like it but I don't like mornings as much- wonder if there is a correlation?

boat looks great......how fast with the 700's?

The wrap idea might be a good alternative considering the cost of TAOD paint and the love it or hate it paint schemes might be tough on resale whereas a wrap is gone/replaced for the new owner for 1/2 of what paint would cost.

Be sure to post the after wrap pics.....

The boat ran 118 with the 700's. This is a full cabin boat with 2 a/c systems and a generator, so the speed numbers are truly impressive.

42 Fountain with juiced 700's ran 110 in the shootout (could go faster shootout is only 1 mile)...everyone knows that speed is bogus for a stock 700...they just discredit themselves when they post crap like this.

I forget which magazine but there was an 700 / Outerlimits boat test and the top speed was recorded at something like 6000 rpm...the stock 700 redline is 5400 above which it goes into guardian mode...case closed.

Animalhouse.

Has there been actual real world testing to show a dramatic increase in performance having the boat extend over the drives out back? I think you (Outerlimits) would call it a bustle as well.

I ask because I personally would like the appearance of the boat without it better. I feel that way about all the boats that have them. Not that anyone cares :blush5:
.

animalhouse
10-10-2009, 06:11 PM
There are many advantages to the bustle, and yes there has been Real world testing. The bustle increases appearance, controls noise and fume odors from the exhaust from backdrafting into the cockpit, and it also has a Major Aerodynamic Benefit. The Aerodynamic Benefit being the most important.

I like the appearance both ways, but I think the bustle makes the boat look sleeker and more streamlined.

I purposely left the Fountain out of the mix since Reggie liked to run the boats down river with less than 10 gallons of fuel with a 100 lb jockey type running the boat to get the big number that is unobtainable ever again......

I found it hard to believe someone would care about the trailer paint when they just bought a 500K++ boat with no paint on it.... It would be similar to a new Kia owner calling you to protect the front end with the invisible shield stuff you sell. Doesn't make sense.....

From an business owner's standpoint you are 100% right, take everybody's money. From an economics standpoint that KIA/Hyundai is depreciating rapidly and whether or not it has a few rock chips it will not affect resale a dime.....on the other hand a high line that is perfect will bring a few thousand more than a rock chip one. I have seen people half way through a payment book on a korean car and still be 20% upside down.....those cars are disposable.

Look a your demographics, the KIA Hyundai owner has probably just financed their first new car... they went to the dealer, picked one out and drove it home... to them it is a MAJOR MILESTONE in there life. The payment is also probably a much large chunck of their gross income percentage wise, and a much greter chunk of their disposable income than the MB/BMW buyers....

Dont be so quick to judge those "disposable" ones, the used car market for them has exploded. I think that you would be surprised by what people want me to cover on their cars, as phragle said, its a major milestone. As for the trailers, I was at Myco when I bought mine and met with Don about film kits for the trailers, the reason it is so important on the painted ones is they are steel, paint chips lead to rust on steel, even more so in salt water..like I said don't be so quick to judge;)

My buddy just did that with his wife/kid. Bought wife a Kia SUV (kid was a toddler, messy) and told the wife to drive it 25K miles and I will buy you whatever you want and the Kia goes to his 20 year old kid. She has 5K miles left..... He actually did it to hassle her but the Kia has been great, short of warped rotors it hasn't had a service stop yet.

Should be in Key West, but I will send them as soon as I get the photo's. Not to go back to the previous posts, but the reason for the trailer on the trailer shipment is the customer hasn't registered the trailer yet, and it is easier to get over the border if it is freight than a moving vehicle. Thank you for the interest, it is a great boat, stay tuned we have some exciting deliveries coming up this month.

Personally, I find the discussion of Kia's and Outerlimits in the same thread rather interesting...about as opposite as the poles on a magnet... will a Kia Sportage tow a 37????? Can you order a Kia with TOAD paint and ostrich leather?? with a 1075? can you get an OUTERLIMITS with a 10 year/100,000 mile powertrain warranty?? and 5 year/ 60,000 mile roadside assisstance?
