NY Harbor: Going to try to watch the races on Sunday either from Liberty Landing or Battery Park. Was going to possibly put my boat in, but need to get my header situation figured out.

Not saying in fear that I might get my ass kicked by OPA or SBI racers. You'll just have to see where I show up.

Anyone watching the NYC races from the shore?

I like watching it from the shore better, no rock-roll all day long and worring about current, waves, other boats etc.. They close the entrance before the race so once you're in you can't get out until afterwards. I usually drive up by boat, park at Liberty and walk to the end of the park... :driving:

Last year I helped out at the Pt. Pleasant race and have been there many other times by boat and by land but I actually prefer it by land... In the past I've driven down, found somewhere to park the boat (which can be very difficult and the people can be unaccomodating) and watched the race from the beach. :driving:

Believe it or not, both sites can be just as rough! Lower manhattan gets big rollers/holes at the lower portion of manhattan. I remember one year Alcone flipped over right in front of us!! Another year one of the Cigarettes almost barrel rolled and one of the smaller boats the guys got ejected.
