quick outboard question

Just through shopping around for boats, Ive noticed about half of the twin O/B boats have some sort of rope bridle tied to the hull and wrapped around the bottom of the midsections on the outboards. Whats this for? I thought at first it was just for trailering or something but noticed those same boats leave them on when they are in the water..

on a canopy cat? I dont think thats what its for.. it looks like its used to keep the motors up against the hull or maybe to provide some stability for re-entering the water from clearing a wave?

They keep the motor from bouncing while running at high speeds. With out them you could snap off the motor mounts or crack the mid section. They work very well.

We use them to extend motor mount bolt life. They take out some of the bouncing and moving around. Helps to extend the life of the top motor mounts, wave washers, & bushings.

2012 EPA approved propulsion (eg:attached)

They only work well on boats w/marginal trim travel (cat, etc). jmo\
