One of my foward bunks on the trailer turned sideways last time I loaded and exposed the edge of angle aluminum to the bottom of the boat. Long story short, I now have an 18" scratch on the bottom of the boat. It is not as deep as I thought it might be, but bad enough that I wont put it back in the water. I am planning some repairs over the winter that will include paint, so I can do a "correct" fix then.

Will MarineTex suffice for now? Any other suggestions?

    Thanks!

You want gel on the bottom, not paint. Have the gel repaired by someone that knows what they're doing. it's quick and inexpensive. Most marinas have a guy that comes out and does gel repairs on large boats right in their slips. Shouildn't be a tough find.

If you just want to seal it then marinetex is an easy, cheap and quick fix. If you want it done to look right have it gel'ed.

I will probably do marinetex to get through a couple more weekends. I will do it right this winter. One more thing on the list....
