I got this note from Chuck Miller of the TAG group last week:

"FYI - We're currently accepting some retail jobs for the winter months. If you're interested in us doing any work, please forward me some photos of the job so that we can quote a repair cost. You would need to get the boat to Decatur for us to do this work."

While I'm sad to hear that things are that slow on the production line, this is a great opportunity for those that can get their boats to Decatur, Indiana for some of those "wish I had ordered that option" upgrades. How about:

    1. The factory paintjob that you really wanted, but wasn't available for your model year?

    2. That upgrade to a stainless windshield frame?

    3. A factory replacement job on that pesky sagging headliner? (THIS one should be poplular...)

    4. A new bow (or stern) rail to replace the one that your fat-a$$ sister-in-law stepped on?

    5. Get creative and ask - Who knows what they'll do???

That's a great idea. If anyone should know how these boats were built in order to do custom work on them, they should.

Since the windshield is sloped so far back and really doesn't lift the air at all, I've always wanted to make some kind of windscreen for the top of the frame....wonder if they can figure out something that would work???

I'm nt knocking the idea, but "Factory Retail" pricing is usually insane.

You'll never know if you don't ask. I gave them a list of seven items, mostly new upholstery...

Almost every builder has done this when times were tough...doesn't end-up cheap, but usually ends-up well done.

My boat was a good enough deal (new), has served me so well over the years, and the factory has been so supportive that I'd be willing to pay a little more than bargain prices just to help the company out. Formula deserves it on every level in my book.

Anyone have a 382 trailer that I can borrow for the winter? I promise to put only PA-to-Decatur roundtrip mileage on it....

That would be a deal for Merc, Formula would only get the installation $$$ which isn't all that much.

I talked to Kari Davis About this on Thurs of this week and he said that he had gotten a quote out to a guy w/ a 382. He Give me some round about Priicing about my 271, I know a lot of guys that spent a lot more money on the paint then what I can get the hole boat done for! One catch He said call him back in 45-60 days before he would know if there going to go full bore w/ this! FYI

If your buddy is serious have him contact me. I can tell him exactly what to expect and what needs to be changed. My 700SCI's are great, the upgrade was a major improvement in the 382. Dave ddavisinc@yahoo.com
