That just sucks, he looks like a young 50, so full of life. Last year on our fall poker run I did not have a chance to talk much with one of my favorite clubs members, he was about 50, two days after the run he died of a brain hemorrhage. I am glad to hear, like Dave his organs will be donated, but so sad for the loss of your uncle, may he rest in peace.

Got more of the story. Top 5 vertebrae in your neck are called C1-C5 (cervical). Christopher Reeves had C1-C2 damaged, they were fused together and he rolled around the rest of his days. John's C1 through C5 were all shattered which in turn caused total paralysis/brain damage. Apparently he landed on the back of his skull after the 15 foot fall.

He was unplugged from life support at 10am this morning and in less than three minutes he was gone.....36 hours prior he was fine.

Life happens (in this case death happens) when your making plans sometimes.....
He would not want one person to feel sorry for him, he would be laughing at himself right now that after all the crazy sh!t he did in his 56 years a broken stair rail would take him down. Don't know the odds on that kind of death but I would think it is greater than the lottery!

Lesson here is don't waste a day in life since it maybe your last!

    Thanks for all your thoughts........

So sorry to hear of your loss. Your uncle lived life to its fullest.

As a future organ donor, I'm happy that he chose to donate his organs to help others in desperate need. Thats the ultimate gift anyone can make.

Sorry to hear of your loss JS. Right now he's on that big poker run in the sky (probably on a 50' Nortech cat with 4 turbines)!

I'm sure the crash through the balcony wasn't fun, but I'm glad to hear that ultimately he had the opportunity to go peacefully.
Your Uncle was in my thoughts this morning.
May he rest in peace, and I hope the family can all find peace in this.
    I'm sorry for your loss.
