Zero Turn mowers

Ive finally had enough of constatnly fumbling and fighting my prehistoric tractor and decided to buy a zero turn. I'm looking for something commercial grade preferably with a diesel engine probably in the 500 hr. or less range. We've had several different models of Grasshopper mowers over the years I really like them but I'm not ruling out other brands.

What do you guys run?

the only problem with ztr 's is you cannot hold a beer in your hand while driving, I had one for a day ! traded it back in for a cub cadet.

If your going zero turn go eX-mark IMO and for a second choice eX-mark and if that was not clear eX-MARK

Seems silly to me to have a tool that expensive to only do one thing. Unless you have a ton of grass. And then I'd want a real tractor with a rear deck.

My Simplicity mows nicely and quickly and turns as tight as you'd ever need to cut grass efficiently. Plus it pulls a trailer, a roller, an aerator and if I wanted a bunch of other attachments. And the snow blower mounts to the front in the winter.

you are a better man than me! plus I went over a slight incline and mowed the grass down to dirt, it was nice around the trees though

I bought a kubota zd331 with a 72" bed this spring. I have about 10 1/2 acres plus whatever neighbourhood/boatramp mowing.

I can honestly say that I get at least twice as much done in the same time compared to my tractor with a 72" finish mower, not only faster but I can mow within a couple of inches of the trees without damaging them.

Yes it's expensive, but it's commercial grade and built to last. I also added the steel canopy which does a great job of keeping the sun and any falling branches off you.

Very happy so far.

just adjust the levers to where you can hold both in your left hand, (works best on a straight-away) grab your beer chug about half and put it down before the next tree or turn. The kubota comes with a cup holder big enough for a foam coozie, however they neglected to provide for cooler storage.

Amature! I had it mastered when I was 17.

Chris, I mow 5 acres roughly once a week that currently takes me close to 3 hours. Donzi says she will do it if I buy a different mower. If I can have back 3 hours of my life per week to do other things its worth it.

LOL I thought that was the whole point of zero turns

I just got done installing work lights last week so that I can mow in evening/twilight, even with a canopy our present daytime highs of 100+ or more make for an unpleasant task. I am going to fab up a small cooler rack to go between my feet. Zero turns are bad about raising dust clouds, makes for thirsty work.

I drink just fine with my zero turn. I also aerate , pull my kayak to the lake with it - Sir. I can't imagine going back to the riding lawn mower days.

did it have these tires? how did they work out, I am thinking of trying some different tires for better traction

You might look into a 4-wheel steer John Deere tractor. A friend got talked into one when he went in for a Zero-Turn JD, and he absolutely loves it.

Sister in law just bought one Wednesday. Loves it so far. Tested lots first.

Scag is the toughest built. Although i ran X-marks for years and loved them.They have the fastest blade speed in the Industry
The grasshoppers and Woods are OK.not as well built but have snowblowers and such to put on them...
