Looking for a low mile 3/4 or 1 ton crew cab. What is the best bang for the buck less than 15k ?

Love my Ford - 7.3 diesel - everyone says they are bullet proof, and you could get a late model 1ton with all the bells and whistles with low mileage for that price.

    I second the 2000-2003 7.3L PSD Ford.

Late model 2003s have the 6.0L PSD, so make sure you find a 7.3L. The later the model the better.
When I found mine, I was searching:
    www.autotrader.com
    www.cars.com
    www.ebay.com
    ... daily.

Now sites like http://www.searchallcraigs.com/ and http://www.searchtempest.com/ make it easier to do wide searches on Craigslist.

Probably getting rid of my truck to get a suburban. 02 1500hd/2500ld crew cab with 36k on it. Always garaged and never gets driven in the rain. Slightly lowered on new 8 lug 20's , big stereo, fiberglass bedcover, billet everywhere. There is not so much as a paint chip on anywhere. I'm also close to you (bham al) pm if interested in more details, as there is more goodies on the truck and it will come in slightly under your budget.

craigslist and ebay if you can go look at the vehicle in person.

what are you going to use the truck for?

I just sold my 02 7.3 with over 200k on it...had original trans in it too. although you can get a dodge pretty cheap, but IMO dodges are cheap trucks.

Mainly looking for opinions on what I should be searching for. I keep them for 10+ years and need something reliable that will hold up in the long run with routine maintenance.

My 2001 Chevy 2500hd CC with 8.1/allison has been a great truck. I have 133k on it and have had only relatively minor repairs done. I wouldn't hesitate to get another. They quit making the 8.1/allison in 2006, and there are not many with that package out there.
