What are Merc Racing Rods worth
    #1
I have a set of good Merc Racing rods out of my 575 SCi. The part number is 614-8M8020323. I don't know what they are worth. The list price is outragous at $1896.40 a set. Any ideas on a price for the set??

some of those Merc HP parts re branded from a regular performance manufacturer for instance there may be a Carillo version of that rod. I would find out what those go for new and start at about 50% of that.

    Thanks glassdave

    The new price is $1896.40

They are indeed the Carillio design and have Mercury Racing printed on them.

I'll probably ask $900 for the set then.

    thanks again.

I don't think the 575's have Carillo's, they are Manley H-beam rods. I think the Carillos only come in the bigger hp merc motors. Manley's go for around $500-$600 new.

If the 575 rods are like the ones in the 525s, I don't know if they are worth the price of a set of Scats. They maybe a H beam rod ,but if they are a press fit pin like the 525sI wouldn't want them. I rebuilt 3 525 last year and bushed the wrist pin to full floating, why Merc does them that way I don't know.

I couldn't imaging using a set of used rods in an engine.

I was looking at Merc HP parts. List on a 1075 crank is like $11,000. It must be a really good crank

The 500 Bulldog motor comes with Carillo's. And, I think, Callies crankshaft. They were built to be ultra reliable. The HP500 is only Manley rods.

The rods in the 575 are manley h beam, fitted with arp 2000 bolts, they have pressed fit pins(not sure why they do it that way,i prefer bushed full floating). In used condition probably worth around 200-300,new from manley with upgraded bolts around 700-800,new from merc crazy price,I think merc racing is on crack on its pricing of hard engine parts,no one buys big engine parts from them, some of there pricing just plain stupid
